looking for a 2008 gt  170 for a family member seen one from  main dealer 9500  thought it was a bit steep
needs to be on finance  nice one for sale on here but private sale
hes trading in a seat leon 14 tsi  what should i be looking for in a oil burner as never owned a soot chucker

The 140 is a better engine that the 170. i was looking for a Golf GT TDI 170. But ended up with a Jetta Sport PD140 for £5750. The similar spec golf with a smaller boot was almost £10000!!!

No it's not. The 170 is a better engine, smoother and believe it or not, more reliable. 140s eat heads (they suffer from porous cylinder walls which means a new head is needed) and also have very weak turbos.
The 170s are much more reliable, there are injector related problems however these are all covered under a factory recall for free.  :driver:

It's the 170 he bought never came to see me first I could have got a few quid off I love getting money off from salesmen. He's just a young lad he will learn  think its got nav  cruse mfsw see it when I'm home back home Fri 50 k miles 14500 think its to pricey  now I will have to get a better car lol  oh its leather too
