Title: ED30 lowering springs
Post by: DomBacon on May 06, 2013, 08:13:35 pm
Looking at lowering my ed30 but don't know what springs to choose from! It's out of the APs, eibach sportlines or the H&Rs
Any pics would be a great help as well!

Why the eibach?

AP were bouncy, H&R too firm, Eibach's the best for me where I live.

How firm was the H&Rs?
Does the eibach still have a nice drop though?

It's all subjective, and to be honest the H&R/Eibach choice is much of a muchness. When I had H&R's they were paired up with Koni FSD's and I didn't like the combination, felt like I was physically being smacked over the head with some bumps. Now I have Bilstein B8 dampers and like them lots.

Have a look at my sig for pics of the drop, I don't get slamming cars so like the benefots of the height it has now, about 25-30mm lower.

The B8s are supposed to be fantastic....

Aye I wish I just bought the B12 kit instead of being a cheapskate and getting the AP's that were on for 500 miles

B12 is B8 damper with Eibach springs. Apparently the "best" for fast road/daily driver use.

I am contemplating a set for the Assassin but can't decide if i want to change the car or not yet.

I know  :happy2:

B12 Sportline comes with Eibach springs (I bought the kit...B8 dampers + Eibach Sportlines = B12 Sportlines), I think it changed over the past few years from H&R.

I was really pleased with the ride on H&R's, looked slightly lower than cars on Eibachs which is what I wanted.

Not crashy, and only felt a little firm on really bumpy roads  :happy2:

Looking forward to Rich's review tomorrow

Just realised I've recommended H&R's on every lowering spring related thread  :scared:

I doubt you'll be disappointed with either, I'm probably preferring the Eibach's because they're paired up with a much better damper.

I've got Eibach Sportlines on mine, chose them over the H&R as I feared that the H&R might be a tad too low for my liking. I like the drop and it is low enough for me yet practical. When I first had them fitted the ride quality didn't feel different at all... it was only after a couple weeks that I started to feel the lumps and bumps in the road. :scared:  But to be honest the overall ride is still ok and easy to live with. :happy2:

Both lowered on the same springs, red (manual), silver (DSG).

H&R on standard dampers? and cheers mate :)

Initial verdict is that they dont feel that much harder/harsher than OEM.

Are they a nice drop? heard they sit lower than the sportlines, plus it needs to settle in as well!

No problem, the offset of my wheels make the car look lower too (ET44), compared to OEM wheels.
