Can anyone give me some advice on removing a dump valve that came with my car?
It is an edition 30 so the dump valve is at the front of the engine with easy access.
Problem I have is that I have bought a revision G diverter valve to replace the forge dump valve that is currently fitted.
I can see where the new diverter valve fits, but the problem is that this forge DV has got 2 narrow pipes coming out of it that clearly will not go into the diverter valve.
What do I do with these pipes after diverter valve is back on?

Not sure why you would want to replace a Forge DV with a revision G VW one. I did the opposite because it doesn't hold boost WOT.
Anyway:
Remove the engine cover.
There are 2 pipes that go from the DV to the actuator, then an additional pipe that goes from the actuator to a T connector on the vacuum line. Remove the T connector and reconnect the vacuum line.
Remove the wire that links the actuator to the VW harness then plug the harness into your Rev G diverter once it is bolted in place.
Easy peasey. :happy2:

Hi mate, thanks for the info.
I want to replace it as I don't like the sound of dump valves. It's quite a loud one and I would rather a standard recirculating type anyway.
-
Does it not have a spacer fitted then ?
-
What he said ^.
If it is making a whoosh sound when you let off the throttle, it more than likely has a spacer in it. The Forge diverter works along the same lines as the VW part but is just stronger so doesn't vent to atmosphere unless the venting spacer is fitted.
Remove the body of the DV and there should be a piece in between the DV and the mount. Take that out and then remount the DV. The issue you will have is that the bolts will be too long to fit either the Forge or the VW DV.
If you have the spacer then I can see why you want it off. It sounds a bit pants (sounds more like an air leak on these engines) and supposedly saps power (or so I have read).
This is the sound the spacer makes:
This is what it looks like (fits under the diverter valve):

Hope this helps.

No its defiantey not the spacer, its a complete "forge" replacement dump valve. And it sounds sh**e.
Hence me having to buy a new diverter valve and trying to work out how to re-plumb the little pipes that come off of it.

Are you sure its not both the Forge and spacer may be worth posting a pic as if it was just forge it wouldn't Anoy you or do you also have an induction kit fitted ?

Hi I haven't had a chance to take a photo and upload it but I looked and it's definately all one piece. 100% not a spacer and recirculating DV.

Finally found some time this evening to take the dump valve out.
Followed your instructions and it couldn't have been any easier, much appreciated, thank you.
I have taken a photo of what I removed but haven't got a clue how to upload pictures on this site!

You need to use a image hosting site like photobucket and then copy the links across onto the website.
Did you work out whether it had the venting spacer, if you look on the Forge website you can see both parts.

Thanks, have uploaded the pics.
Its definately all one piece, don't know a lot else about it to be honest haven't been able to find this one online. Made by Forge thats all I know.

That sounds so crap in that video!
-
From the looks of it that is Forge Atmospheric dump valve found here:
http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=260309&product=FMFSITAT
They do one also which is not atmospheric which would of not given off as much noise.

Yeah that's the one cheers for the link.
I want to sell it but can't post in the for sale section. Do I need to upgrade my membership? I looked to see if I can become a paid member but couldn't find an option.
-
You need to have 25 posts before you can sell within the for sale sections.

Lol cheers, excuse me whilst I post some random crap!
