Got a set of aftermarket merc reps to go on my car, they have tapered holes, can i run my standard wheel bolts or do i need to get new ones? :sad1:
If so can anyone advise me on the bolt specs i will need?
What about my locking wheel nuts, guess i will need a new tapered set too?
-
anyone? :sad1:

I was under the impression that all alloys took the same type of bolts, and it was steels that were different.
I'm going to try and get my Merc wheels on in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to take my old bolt and one of my wheels to a local wheel shop and let them work it out. The last thing I want is the bolt to be too long or too short.

wheel bolts are tapered or radius seat , most oem vw alloys use radius , if your merc wheels are tapered you ll need tapered bolts mate :happy2:
-
no iam not certifying this but in theory you could put radius bolts into tapered seats and it would work, but not tapered bolts into radius seats. but realisticaly you need the right ones obviously
-
Will i be needing M12x1.5 bolts?
-
You need M14 bolts.
Have you tried one of your VW bolts in your Merc wheel? You may need to get them drilled out to accept 14s (luckily 14s fit in mine) and you may need longer ones.
If you're really unsure, take a merc wheel and a VW bolt to a local alloy wheel shop and they'll work out what you need. If they're too long and wreck your brakes or too short and fall off, its their responsibility. If you guess, you could have a costly bill in front of you.

DONT DO THIS ! they may seem right but they are definatly not !

Get the correct Tapered bolts and lockers. Most wheel/tyre shops have them.
Typically you will need M14x1.5 and approx 28-30mm long for reps.
OEM Merc bolts can be as long as 60mm and vary between 12 and 14mm !!

It says they are Tuner bolts? Whats that?
Is it like they are all locking wheel bolts with one key? Or will i still need 16 and a set of locking bolts?
