Title: Increasing Boost
Post by: Genner on July 06, 2013, 05:40:06 pm
As a relative newbie, just wondering why increasing the boost isnt common on the GTI ?

Previously owned quite a few Nissan's 200's 300's GTR's and it's common practice to increase the boost without a remap. Boost controllers or boost jets are an everyday done thing, with no problems at all.

Anyone fill me in ?

Isn't it to do with the turbo? I *think* that unless you go big turbo (which most people don't on here), it would be useless.

On cars like your talking about you would just use a manual boost controller and either the ecu would compensate for it. Or you would alter the pressure regulator. GTI bit more involved remap is what increases the boost as well as sorts the timing and fueling.

No regulator needed on nissans just a welding jet. Still don't see why the boost can't be upped on the GTI by one or two PSI
