Is it true/false that the MK5 GTI loves oil? I've had problems with cars drinking oil in the past and it was pointed out to me the other day that I should check my oil (it's just been services two months ago so I haven't for about a month) and it was riding at nearly minimum.... Does every GTI drink it??

I buy 8l every time I do an oil change, use just under 5l and the other 3l will last me for top ups between services.

I think up to 1l per 1000miles is acceptable by VW s standards I use 3l per 10000miles

If I drive the car hard it will use more oil.

You should be checking your oil every week

Cheers mate... I've done about 3/4k in the last two months... Gonna start being anal and check it every week... Just bought the castrol edge and will be topping up again when it comes... Cheers again
