Title: Help please - clutch
Post by: turbomook on August 08, 2013, 08:50:49 am
Hi all,

Please could someone give me some advice. I was out in the mk5 golf Gti last night. Put my foot down in second and the clutch peddle went straight to the floor and now I can not select any gears and the clutch peddle is stuck to the floor.

The clutch has never slipped and car had been running great.

Is this likely to be the clutch that has gone or something else?

Thanks

 Could be the Master cylinder

this happened to me on a mk4 golf and when I got down an had a look the clutch pedal had split allowing the master cylinder push rod to come through the peddle which caused the pedal to sit on the floor. can you get down there and pull pedal back up it was common problem on mk4 mate i took pedal off and had my mate weld it up

That's just happened to me a month or so back. More than likely the slave cylinder has failed. Feel around under the bell housing to see if there's any fluid there, gearbox out job to change it though.

Cheers for the info guys,

The slave cylinder has failed inside the gearbox, so car is now at the garage getting fixed.
