Well... yupp... gonna save up for some new rims...
I've grown to like split rims, expensive and will take a good while to save... but should be worth it right ?
Your honest true opinions are appreciated chaps

I think they will look awesome, very expensive though and will not look right unless you lower the car too
-
....
Those BBS are part of their family of 'Y' spoked alloys which all look very dateless and classic imo. I also like the look of split rims. If you like those, then why not consider TC's alloys.
Personally, at £3.5k I'd be thinking of spending another £1.5k and getting some carbon rim Dynamag's which would have the weight and other performance advantages.
But why do this on a Pirelli which already has unique wheels unless it was for weight advantages?
-
I think they are SWEET.
Agree with Aparoon about the rest.
Have u seen a pic of your car with them on????

....Someone else might be the first with them on this forum

My friend had these fitted on his S3, and they were corroded within a year (show use only too)
-
I thought you didn't like this type of wheel, you turned your nose up at this style a number of times.
Get yourself a full on side shot and load it up onto this ace site. We had great fun on another forum with this BBS site as a couple of people could not get the hang of sizing the wheels correctly. :signLOL:

Hmm yes im still contemplating atm :)
I love my Pirelli wheels... i think they look great... most dont agree... i grow more to them eveeery day
All im thinking of doing is,
1) Remap,
2) Eibach Pro Sport line springs
3) Spaces ( 5 or 10mm ? )
The only reason im considering changing wheels is due to the fact i dont want to get them damaged... they will be worth a fortune in years to come

....I was with you until I read that bit ^!
Wouldn't you be just a little bit worried about damaging wheels which cost you £3.5k?
-
Indeed. They will never be worth as much as the BBS RS GT rims.
-
Hmm... ill keep them then
Does everyone agree that getting Spaces ( 5 or 10mm ? ) is a good idea ?

....Nope! But I've expressed my views before.
-
Spacers can be risky, have been known to crack and break, which isnt such a good thing when going round a corner.
Personally wouldnt fit them.
Keep the Pirelli alloys, they look the bussiness, and oh a remap, isnt such a bad thing

Ok - looks like i'll stick to Remap & Eibach Springs....
p.s which are the best springs ?? Do VWR make good springs ? I hear they are lighter ???? :surprised:
This is something i want to do, save weight
-
^^^^
Rich, VWR don't make any springs but because of their technical partnership with KW Germany (also VW Cup sponsors), VWR offer KW suspension products.
I'm not aware of KW springs being lighter weight than others but I would say that Bilstein and KW offer the best coilovers unless budget is an issue.
You can buy just VWR-KW springs.

i have the vwr springs and all 4 were 3.2kg lighter than the h&r ones i also had. they are made by the same people that makes kw springs. i have also had kw v1 coilover kit and an eibach pro street kit and although they look the same appart from the colours the kw springs are lots lighter. here some info i was reading about the race springs http://kw-suspension.com/en/30_Products/30_KW_Competition/10_Racing_Springs/index.php (http://kw-suspension.com/en/30_Products/30_KW_Competition/10_Racing_Springs/index.php)

Hi BMX... before i start.. i love your car in your sig... it looks the shizzle !
Which springs do you recommend i go for then ? VWR or the KW Springs ?
Which springs have you got on now ?
I want springs that lower the ride.. by a subtle amount ( just right ) and of course springs that save weight
-
i have the vwr springs on now :happy2:

Nice rim but you could be at stage 2+ for less than that

....But I get the impression that Rich doesn't want to mod the Pirelli's engine. It would give him insurance problems probably.
-
Rich, 10mm spacers will give you an improved stance/look which is what I believe your looking for, they will not give you any other problems if they are well made hubcentric spacers and are fitted and balanced with the wheels. :happy2:
Talk to Ben ( Thewheelman )

Rich
I think you are doing the right thing with the Pirelli
1. keep the original P Alloys as they distinguish the car
2. Re map it
Not sure if it really needs lowering this early in its life, I would wait until the springs/dampers need replacing as the ride/handling is already pretty good
-
Yeshhhhhh - booked in for REVOOOO
Only stage 1 though :happy2:
i was really impressed with the Revo Stage 1 on our Pirelli, ransformed the car and strangely feels a lot more refined especailly at lower speeds, are you going to HQ or an agent as the Pirelli map is slightly different to Ed30

Going to HQ... Carl there will flash me.
I'll probably get the VWR Springs as i think 17mm drop is just right for a subtle improved look & improving the handle slightly.
-
...and then time for bigger breaks, I instantly noticed they are not up to scratch with the extra power.

Only if they are centered and good quality.
I had 10mm centered spacers on the rear. It looked nice and was just fine. Had to take them off because of new alloys (OZ Alleggerita).

Really makes me chuckle when people want to save a few Kg
(Taking cover for when I get flamed)

Top wheels...
The BBS RS-GT (RS960) wheel are available in a 8.5x19 ET46mm for the MK5.
They weigh in at 9kgs ea.
The factory currently has limited stock of these. The retail is £3500 a set.

....It's more for the extra feedback and feel which a lighter weight wheel gives you (I'm told and am soon to find out for myself).
Really makes me chuckle when people want wheels only for eye-candy
