Title: So I bought a mk5 Golf Gti 05 with DSG (60K)

Hi all,

I have just bought a mk5 2005 gti with DSG (60k miles) and it is very nice alot better than my mk4 anyway.

Just a couple of questions as I never planned on getting one with DSG (The service history is full with VW and specialist VW garages), If anything goes wrong with it do VW help towards the cost? and if it does what are the common symptoms? Mine sees great so far, changes smoothly etc... no obvious faults.

It has had one DSG service so far (oil change etc... by VW) which was done in the last 5k miles. Am I right to think it is due another before 80k?

One other thing I noticed when driving it home is that there is a faint whistle noise coming from the engine bay when I let off the accelerator, any ideas? or is this normal?

Ok So i have found out the service which was done on the dsg box was 15k to late then what VW recommend. Should I be worried? as said it does not jerk or anything. I guess the next service will be just before 100k.

I am very paranoid now :(

I think most dealers charge around 80£ for a dsg service.

No just because it was serviced by VW they won't fix it if it breaks  :happy2:

DSG done a bit late ....... not wonderful.
But it changes smoothly and when it should ..... wonderful!
Enjoy  :happy2: and get it done on time, next time.
I love my DSG. Its not the perfect solution every time but for 99.9% its great. There are occasional  times when you would like to drop down a couple of cogs and feel like 'real driver'. But having just drivenA3/M25/M3/ Kingston town centre and back again, it was so easy and quick. Wouldn't change it for a manual.

Thanks guys you have made me feel better, you only live once and if it happens it happens and from what I have read it seems that the problem happens early on (problem since factory) or from incorrect fluid being used during the service.

How many guys out there who's original dsg is fine? and if so how many miles you done?
