Title: DMF or SMF??

Clutch has started slipping and will need replacing soon but cant make my mind up!

Looked into the LOBA SMF/sachs clutch kit but it didnt have the best of reviews but then some people swear by it!

Spoke to Al from awesome gti earlier today about a helix clutch which ive heard good reviews about. He then told me that with the DMF ideally i should replace my existing flywheel as these are commonly known for failure. If this is the case then im having doubts about it incase it fails in the near future.

If anyone has any of these kits could you give me your reviews on them please, good points and bad points.

Any help would be very appreciated  :happy2:

Sorry I can't be much help but the last owner of mine had an uprated Sachs clutch that got ruined after less than 10,000 miles when the OEM flywheel ran its natural lifespan, so it is false economy not doing the whole lot at once.

Yeah I know, the helix clutch and flywheel comes to £871 and the loba and Sachs kit I can get for £828 but then I've heard they rattle :/ I am very fussy when it comes to my car :(

The loba flywheel is very loud on overrun. It only really rattles at idle when the air con is on. If u want refinement, stick with dmf. If you're not fussed about the noise then its a very good kit. I've done nearly 10k on mine and no problems so far.

I hate noises if its to do with my car :( haha that's what's putting me off the kit, I know it's stupid but I can't help it!

The DMF is there to protect your gear box from being damaged by the initial torque of a turbo engine (petrol or Diesel).

DMF is surely the best way forward for longetivity of your gear box? :confused:
