When I brake gently with the clutch depressed I get this alarming banging feedback through the brake pedals as though something is loose.
If I brake a little more positively with the clutch depressed it is fine.
Other braking is normal and the brakes were last checked at MOT about 1000 miles ago. I do very little milage and this seems to make no difference as to wether the brakes are hot or cold.
Occasionally this has made me stall the car :driver:
Is it something to do with the ABS braking or what else could it be?
-
if it is affected by the clutch, might it be something to do with brake fluid? maybe there is air in the system somewhere? but if its a banging, hmm... id get it checked sooner rather than later!

Does sound as though the ABS could have something to do with it.......

The banging will definitely be the ABS, but i cant see what the clutch has to do with it. Something to do with the sensor is my guess I would be straight to the garage with that no question. let us know how you get on. :chicken:

Now that I think more about it it can also happen when I dont have the clutch pressed just that I am going at a very slow speed.
Will talk to my local friendly garage, I just thought it may be something to do with the ABS as ABS is new to me

it isnt coz of the icey roads is it ?
abs pulse, maybe
i know this is off spec, but my mk3 tdi did this just as i came to a stop, it was an abs sensor, i changed both fronts and cured it, german and swedish where cheaper than euro car parts

Explain more about ABS pulse ... coz it does feel like a pulsing. I want to be armed with descriptiveness when I go to my garage coz being female :driver: I don't want t sound like a total twit!

its when the wheel skids, so to stop you skidding it pulses on and off, if theres any snow in your area then go onto a car park and try and stop on the snow, and this will be felt
