Title: Stolen recovered, would you buy?
Post by: George118 on October 01, 2013, 11:00:11 pm
As per the title really, I've noticed an attractive looking car on autotrader but its stolen recovered.
Is this something to avoid or are there any specific questions I should be asking the seller?

Cheers!

(Ill find the right car one day!)

Depends on the state it was recovered in.
Some are just driven around normally some are smashed up beyond recognition

Is it a cat X or U do you know?

I would if you could tell it hadn't been abused and it reflected in the price of course.

I see alot of these and some are still real gems however more often than not they've been tampered with one way or another.

Check that the vins haven't been touched, trims inside are all fitted correctly and not rattling (they rip interiors out to find trackers) damage to underside and axle's, was it stolen with a key? and of course engine is ok - Cars that have been stolen for parts isn't unknown either!

Good luck with finding one bud.

Just remember that your own caution will be mirrored by potential buyers when you come to sell.

Nearly everyone here had patience rewarded when looking for their pride and joy.
