Title: Recaro cs's
Post by: George10 on October 03, 2013, 09:04:31 pm
I've found someone with a set of these, they're out of a corsa vxr
Has anyone fitted them before? If so, what work was needed?

Thanks

Custom subframes probably and some coding to get rid of errors

Again a post I made seems to have not applied.

Corsa VXR seats are not Recaro CSs.
They are very different. They are similar to Recaro CSs but if you have a Corsa seat and an actual Recaro CS seat side by side the difference is obvious.

Recaro sell runners for all kinds of fitments. You could buy the Mk5 runners and bolt them to the Recaros from the Corsa.
They are around £175 a seat.

To code out the airbag you cannot disable without changing your airbag ECU for one that is not supposed to have side airbags (basically a factory bought GTI/R32 with the RS4 buckets in them).
So you need to use a resistor on the airbag plug.
It's a 2.2ohm resistor you need.

Oh really? I thought they looked different when he said, but there's not an awful lot of difference.
I'll have to look in to it as I cba to buy them if there be a hassle to fit!

I just wanna do someone a bit different than gti interior!

It's not really a lot of hassle.

I suppose not. Maybe I could weld my rails/subframes on them off my standard seats?

You could, but Recaro make bolt on subframes for the Mk5 you can buy...?

I know you wrote that, but if they fit the same way its saves me £175  :P

So it's not hassle you're concerned about, but cost?  :popcornsoda:

Ha ha nah it's not that, I have money but if I've got something that does the same job I may as well use it
Called smart thinking  :P

That's true.

I'm just thinking about adjustability of the seat and whether welding runners would be effected, if they're not perfectly straight and in the exact location you're going to have problems.. and the future worth of the seats.

Save £300 now but cost that in the future by welding hunks of metal to them!..  :scared:

Up to you buddy. I would recommend custom if you are trying to fit say Mk5 seats to a Mk4 but when there are factory runners available I would just buy them

If the recaro ones work better then I'll buy them, but if I could've got away with the standard runners i would've

These seats will also be going in my next car, so would the runners for the mk5 be the same as an s3?

I had 3 door A3 seats in my old Golf, which fitted fine, so I would presume so  :happy2:

How did you get on fitting these seats? I've just bought some for my mk6 and I dont fancy buying the frames from Recaro as they are about £400!

Cheers

Not sure he fitted them in the end. An option could be to buy some cheap front seats from a golf, cut the frames off and put them on your new seats?

Oh really? I was thinking of trying to make up some adapter plates, so that i can still use the vxr surbframes and still have the height adjustment. I've not really had a good look at it yet to see how they will fit. just hoping for some tips

I didn't buy them in the end as there was too much work involved. The frames etc sit really heigh so the seats looks really tall. I've bought two brand new cs's instead. All I have to do is bolt the recaro subframes and they fit straight in.

I personally don't think it's as easy as losing the vxr subframes and  bolting  standard golf ones to it. Any more questions just ask.

Yeah I know, but they look similar and are dirt cheap.

It's not a lot of work to get them fitted at all, as long as you can use an angle grinder and can get hold of a pilar drill to make some brackets. I have them in my car, I have them the same height as I had the standard gti seats so not too high at all. I do know that someone has cut the subframes off of a mk5 and rewelded to the corsa seats and they also said it wasn't a huge job. As for them not being supportive, I don't agree absolutely love them. Plus the price I picked mine up for I couldn't say no to.

Just my 2p worth

Did you get yours off the lad on Instagram? Grey centres ?

They support is decent, but the cs's hug you a bit more. Your comment will hopefully help the lad out who wants to fit them.

That's what I said on the last page but some guy was trying to disagree  My brother owned a Corsa VXR for 3 years, I had RS4 Recaros in my A3 for 3 years and my cousin had Recaro CS' in his Mk1 TT. The Corsa seats offer less support than my Edition 30 ones  :jumping: I'm tempted to go GTI/R32 Recaro's in my eddy, but then I'll lose the lumbar, time will tell

Hi,

Sorry to make an old thread come back to life but I have just got myself some VXR recaros and they are heated and have the seat belt sensor and airbag too but I am trying to find a way to wire them to the edition 30. Can I just use the connectors from the edition 30 seats and connnect them up to the corsa seats? Have tried a  thread already but no reply on there :(

Thank You.
