Title: Rear Lights
Post by: Kalpesh on October 16, 2013, 08:12:27 pm
evening all, have just noticed that on both rear lights when on, only the inner half of the ring is lit, when braking the outer half comes on, have checked the outer bulbs and everything looks fine, fuses all look ok too.

how can i go about getting the outer ring to light up?

Do you have access to VCDS? If so send me the long coding for 09 central electrics and I will take a look.

I too wanted to try this although I haven't looked into it in too much depth before.
Might have a play on Sat.

I'll message you the details, only noticed it yesterday, on my mrs Gti when the lights are on the whole ring is lit up and when you press the brake both outer lights act as the brake lights.

Haha. How's your ring been since I gave it a seeing to?

Yeah that's how it should be. Full ring lights on, then outer part gets brighter when brakes on.

Sorry to jump on your thread Kalpesh, but Matto do you know how to do the full ring brake without getting the "bulb out" error on dash?

Kalpesh - You have PM.

Raz - I don't mate sorry. As far as I'm aware it can't just be done with coding changes.

Thanks for the PM mate, just managed to sort it, brake light as parking light was set to 0%

Cool...glad its sorted. One of the 00 bytes you had needed to be 14 just wasn't sure which one without looking.

My coding is

E78F0F0600041800001400001400000000087F075C

(however that was the backup I took before I added the US DRLs at 30%).

Can I get the taillight mod on mine too?

The full rear light as Kalpesh.
I'm pretty sure I tried on my old car, with the brake light as parking light to be a % but nothing changed?  :ashamed:

In Kalpesh's situation with the lights on (no brake applied) he had lost the outer half of the circle. The pic below shows this although it's not the best angle.

The coding change I mention is to bring this back to the full circle. This does not give you the full circle when braking. Only the outer part still lights up brighter. Hopefully that might be abit clearer haha.

That's exactly how mine was, now have full ring, when braking the outer lights up brighter
