Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am on the look out for an RNS 510 unit.
I am just wondering what firmware version i should be on the look out for, i have a 2008 Mk5 GTI and want a simple plug and play unit without the hassle of updating anything.
many Thanks

2760 or 3810 . Both need to be the modified version.

thanks for that would do you mean though that it needs to be the modified version?
And can you confirm whether this is version B, C, L etc etc
Many Thanks

The original versions of those firmwares would give you battery draining issues. You need the modified one to prevent battery from draining.
EDIT: just seen yo have a 2008 golf, Your canbus should be a newer version so any firmware will do
I have had 3 B units now and cant complain with them, If you go for a C or above, they will be LED and of course the price will also go up.
Whats your budget?, Ill see if i can source some for you..

Does this mean an RNS510 with modified firmware doesn't need the new gateway on a 2005 to stop the drain?

Yes.

Now that's interesting thanks. Because that puts just a bit more expensive than and RCD510 and having to sort the new gateway as well.

2760 or 3810 . Both need to be the modified version.
Anyone have a link for the modified 3810 firmware?
Thanks in advance :happy2:

I'd be interested to know this too :) And also what the differences are between them, what features do you lose with the 2760 over the 3810?

Scratch that, found it:

Does the VUCI update work on a C with the 4020?

3810 is slightly more responsive, faster startup and a different startup logo.
