I mean proper realistic one, not a dream Lambo or Ferrari, which was the first car you saw as a kid or whatever and said "I want one!" and did you ever get it?
Mine was the 205 Gti, absolutely loved them even had models and everything, got to 20yrs old and finally set off one day to buy a white 1.6 Gti, got caught speeding on the way ended up with 6 points and had to keep my Nova SR, never did get one and always regretted it. Maybe one day!!!
-
Circa 2002, I think. It was a MK4 Golf GTI that was in black, tinted lights, tinted windows, lowered with chrome rims. It was just so gorgeous. I always wanted to buy one. Then I saw the MK5 and fell in love all over again. The more I read about it, the more I wanted it. So instead of buying a sensible MK4 Golf GTI for say £5k, I went and bought an ED30. And I loved it. Right up until that flippin' accident. :fighting:
-
My 1st love has to be the Ford Fiesta RS Turbo. My uncle had one and I fell in love . This was circa 1992 I think, I was 9 so had a while till I could drive but was very interested in hot hatches from a young age.
Few pics to reminisce:

Mad, mine was the 205 GTI too, after watching the Lombard RAC Rally when I was a wee nipper, for some reason I preferred them to the Audi Quattro's... belting through the woods in the middle of the night... surely I was too young to be out there, but I loved it.
-
205 GTI here too, ever since I liked cars. Styling was ahead of its time IMHO and still doesn't look that old now, especially when you look back to other cars of its time like Vauxhalls and Fords.
Vowed I'd own one and got my first 1 year after buy my first car, a crappy 1.1 Renault 5!
Still got the second one I bought in 2003  :happy2:
-
MK2 RS2000 after my dad took me to a stage of the RAC rally in 1979 (I was 6), always loved that car and the sound it made :happy2:
-
E30 BMW 325i convertible M-tec. So much so I bought one couple years after passing me test ;-)
-
Mk5 GTI Edition 30 - genuinely! I test drove one in around 2009 at B'ham VW. DBP DSG and just instantly fell in love with it. Still think it has the nicest interior of any PQ35 chassis car. When I bought my A3 in 2010 the only reason I went for an A3 rather than a Mk5 was the fact that by that point the Mk5 was the "old model" as such having been replaced by the Mk6. If it weren't for that I'd probably be in an Eddy now.
New target is the Cayman S now. I want one when I qualify from my degree in 2016. Hope to have saved enough for a deposit by then.
-
Ep3 Civic Type R was mine - saw one every day on my walk to Uni and knew one day I would have one
Been there done that now
-
A 1.6 Ltr 96bhp 1985 D Reg Mk3 Ford Escort XR3i (in red obviously). Loved that car. Don't think I've got any pics which is a shame.
Bought it with every penny I had in 1989 and still needed to borrow more from my parents. Insurance was a very VERY belated afterthought, bit of a problem as it cost around £2k BACK THEN!!
Had a few cosmetic mods inc fully colour coding it, some 7 spoke 15" RS 1600i wheels, RS spotlights and fog lights and also had fitted a dodgy windup sunroof which leaked and made the whole car smell damp.
Happy days
-
306 GTI-6, when i graduated in 2003, insurance was a no no, so i ended up with a 306 1.8xs as it was affordable, after 3 years of that i feel in love with all things VW, so ended up with a 25th anni for nearly 6 years, then ED30 for the last 2. Now its all things VW, im in love with MK1 GTI's and split screen campers now

My sister had one in Scotland when I was about 10 years old. I remember her leaving some bloke in a Fiat for dead at the lights. Next thing a policeman stepped out and pulled her in. Fiat driver drove past with a rather cheesy grin on his face. She didn't get a fine, after chatting the officer up (and maybe because the Scots and Irish like each other).
I've never owned a Mk1, but my Mk5 is alright I suppose.
-
I'm with the majority here .... It was the 1.9 205 GTI for me!!! Loved them and still do... Maybe one day eh

Fell in love with it when my dad got it, I was 13 at the time.
Such fun cars :driver:
-
Mine has always been a imperial blue Ford Escort Cosworth.
Back when i was 21, i was left some money and was on the look out for one, i decided against it though because i wanted to use it everyday and got told it would not be advisable.
I ended up going buying a Nogaro blue Audi S4 avant instead, still regret not buying the cossie :(

Haha not good! I spent a fortune at eurocarparts Motorsport. Was a quick car! Hot start was the best..... Or starter clicking and having to put it in gear and rock car. Never did a head gasket and was running 20psi every day - daily driver :-)
-
MkI Focus RS was my first crush... I chose the MkV Golf GTI over it when it came down to having money to buy one... I still love them
-
Mine has always been a imperial blue Ford Escort Cosworth.
Same as that, albeit I wanted a Mallard Green car.
Hopefully one day, albeit I do wonder if it would be a classic 'never meet your heroes' car :surprised:
-
Mondeo Ghia X in the 90's. Early A4 Quattro, Frank Biela'esque.
Then any Scooby WRX of any flavour for years after.
Then a Clio 182 around 2004 time, before I set eyes on the MK5 GTI
Then I bought a Golf Derv with overpriced clothing
My current car crush is the BMW 4 series, specifically in 430d guise...

Yeah must admit that was close to being my choice but I loved the 205 just before that. Still remember the first Escort Cossie I ever saw as a 17yr old in 1992, it was a Mallard green one and it took pride of place in CG Ford Carlisle's front window. Never actually been in one but know people who have and still to this day say they are a brilliant car.
If I ever won the lottery I have always said and still stand by it that it'd be the first big thing I bought.

They didnt do a yellow 850R, that was a T5-R :P
This is my old 850R though, manual, Rica tuned, straight through exhaust system, Eibach springs, just under 300bhp and licked flames on over run.

Cumbrian born and bred, live just outside Penrith now.
-
I would've loved a T5-R bit even then it was out of reach. First proper car crush was a 309 GTI, never did get to own one but I did have a 309GL! :)
Last of the carburettored 1.4s and it was bloody awful.
Mate of mine had an RS1600i and another mate had a mk2 Edition One (the LHD only G60 mk2). I had a lot to live up to.
-
Am I showing my age

I always sat in the front with him and changed gears for him and just loved it ,he got the S2 escort rs turbo after that one in red but for me was never as special I think he even had for a bit a fiesta rs turbo and even the first xr2i in white as well as he was big into fords when I was growing so most of my childhood was being driven around in some kind of ford ,even Capris too
-
For me it was an original mini, until i got to 17 and i desperately wanted a 106GTi As a 17 year old insurance companies laughed at me, so i bought a 1.1 had that until i was 20, then bought a Gti. Most fun I've ever had in a car, so rapid and would surprise most cars when they couldn't get passed. I fell in love with the mk5 around 2006, and knew when i was done with french cars i would have one.
1.1

Love how wide the arse is on these things, really gets me going, although I've never understood the car itself. A two seater sports coupe with a big boot, baffling!

My next door neighbour's Dad has one in that colour, still a head turner and he says whenever they're at track days and the like it always attracts loads of attention. I've always thought it a bit of an odd set up too but top be fair it's a proper sports car you can get a big dog in the back!!!
