So I've had Depo projectors since the summer, as it's now dark 80% of the time I drive thought it was about time I fitted an HID kit...
This is the kit I went for (they are all made in the same Chinese factory right? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330379335700). It worked well the first couple of times but I've had to put normal H7's back in recently as I just can't rely on it to work.
With the engine already running the ballasts fail to ignite when they are switched on, commonly the passenger one fails to light, often it's both. After about 10 minutes of the engine running they will both eventually turn on then work fine for the rest of the journey thereafter, can be switched on and off many times whilst the engine is still on.
Research suggests this is a low voltage problem, I've disabled 'leaving home' lights already and start the car with the switch all the way to the left in 'off'. Battery is new. http://www.ebay.com/gds/HID-XENON-CONVERSION-KIT-TROUBLE-SHOOTING-/10000000001215090/g.html
Anyone had similar issues? Anyone had an HID kit that's worked without problem from day 1 that they can recommend?! Or I could just buy a new set of bulbs & ballasts and try again...
Thanks for any help, i don't want to go back to regular H7's they just don't compare to xenons now I've had a taster of them !

I had an HID kit in some Hella projectors on my Focus and found they had the same problem.
Often, a sharp whack with the back of my hand would make them jump into life, which might suggest a stuck or sticking relay being freed. I never did get to the bottom of the problem and sold the car fairly soon afterwards. I had a combined boost/voltage gauge on that car and as far as I could make out, the battery was also good too and the car getting the necessary voltage it should have been.

I had this problem and I had to get warning cancellors. Now they work 100% of the time. these are the ones I have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/XENON-HID-CONVERSION-KIT-H1-H4-2-H7-HB3-9005-HB4-9006-H4-3-6000k-8000k-/400296974684?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item5d338f195c with these warning cancellors http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-HID-Kit-Computer-Error-Warning-Canceller-Capacitor-/190505352121?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2c5b00fbb9

Had a similar issue with ones fitted to my old Leon. However it only ever happened when starting the car with the lights already on, if you waited until the car was running they used to be ok.

Had the same issue as SkyJawa until i changed my battery which apparently was on its way out. Some minor coding in VagCom also helped. Resistors/Cancellers are not required if you have access to VagCom.

can you please advise the exact steps required to get this fixed from vcds?

Basically you need to change the coding for your lights to Xenon lights without shutters, and also turn off the cold start check for dipped beam iirc.Did mine almost a year ago but only took about 5 mins to find and change the settings.

i did this and mine work fine :happy2:
