Title: Paint on chrome radiator
Post by: gtlee on December 02, 2013, 08:49:44 am
Hi all,
Straight to the point how or if its possible to remove paint that is on a chrome towel rad that has stated to peel off.
I want to keep the radiator saves replacement and the hassle of the what the job entails,do I use thinners or something stronger like Nitomors paint stripper?

Any ideas?

Remove it completely and sand blast it and then have it enamel coated

I just want a quick easy fix to the problem hence no dismantling just want to remove the paint off and restore back to original chrome finish.

It's going to be difficult to restore it back to the original chrome without taking it off like I said. Yeah use thinners and some scotch bright pads to remove the original coating then apply what ever you want

Depending on the type of paint, it might be worth trying a heat gun.
If you are careful the paint will melt, leaving the chrome underneath. Then thinners/white spirit to clean up the residue.
