Title: Windows open by themselves?
Post by: Vish8895 on December 25, 2013, 12:01:11 pm
Hi everyone!

First of all! Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone! Hope you all are well!

This morning I came down stairs to a shocking discovery! All the windows on my 2007 golf were wide open, as far as they could be! Except the sunroof!

I have done some research and people have said they experienced similar things but not fully open? I'm sure I haven't sat on the key or anything daft like that and I know they were closed when I parked last night!

Thankfully I was a dry night and the car is animal free and still on the drive!!!

Does anyone know what could of caused this and how I can prevent it, as it's a pretty big inconvenience!

Thanks
Vish

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

It was a right bloody scare!

But thankfully it hasn't happened again :/, and hopefully it won't!!!

I think i must have sat or stood or telekinetically pressed the button on my key fob ahah!

Hello!
I had the same thing happen to me the other day, I had cleaned it the day before then got into it the next morning to go to work and looking at it from the outside I thought bloody hell I've done a good job cleaning them windows they look open! turns out they where!  After some playing about I learnt that if you hold down the unlock button long enough all 4 windows will wind down and if you hold the lock button long enough they all come back up again! I was like a kid in a toy shop playing with it!
Hope this helps!

Yeah I knew already and it does come in useful! But it still doesn't explain how they opened!

I've had this happen to me during summer holidays. Passenger window was wide open in the morning. It appears that a cat had fun in my car that night. After checking all the seats and some of the dash it must have settled in the drivers seat for a good night's nap. Hair everywhere..  Had the car detailed asap.

My friend's Swift was also left with front windows rolled down that same night just right next to mine. His was clean!  :sad1:

Do you have rain closing activated? Sometimes when the car rain closes it triggers the thermal overload on the window motor causing it to open; similar to the finger trap safety protection. Happened to me once.

Nope dont think so, plus it was dry all night and when i parked it so doubt that would have triggered it :/

Are you holding the lock/unlock button on the remote for more than 3 seconds?

Defiantly not, and i often operate the remote windows often so I'm quite aware of how long they take etc etc.

Either way it hasn't happened again recently and in these torrential weathers, i hope it never does again haha!
