Post by: Andy on September 23, 2009, 11:59:01 am
i have owned my 54 plate  gt tdi from new & it has deen run on long life oil when i was doing 30 mile round trip to work.I changed jobs about 4 years ago & i was advised to change the oil schedule to time and distance or every 10,000 miles as i only do 2 miles a day now-plus the serviceing is cheaper as well £130 at the dealers

As T_T will no doubt mention, longlife servicing has a set of requirements to fill. If your car doean't meet the stringent requirements you should convert to T&D.

My GTI was on LL but after 10k, the SID said it needed servicing. That's when I had it switched to T&D.

2 miles a day now means you need an ED30

It would still be less than a fiver a week in fuel and the service costs would be identical....insurance, probably not so much, but with a low mileage policy it wouldn't cost too much :happy2:

But when you have an ED30 sitting on the drive 2 miles a day turns into 20+  :signLOL:

I work up the road, pretty much a 2.5 mile round trip and I was hitting 250+ miles a week  :innocent:
