Title: Sd Card
Post by: ollie288 on September 27, 2009, 12:22:16 pm
Can you use any SD card with the RNS 510 or does it need to be a particular one? There are so many different ones!  :rolleye:
Any specific links would be great!
Cheers

Ollie once you get the firmware disc and update you rns then you can use any SD card upto 32gb SDHC but at the moment only upto 2gb SD cards work.

I think the f/w update only comes from the factory and thats where it should stay?  but some kind sole got it out the back door and we lucky people where able to download it... :happy2:

Just download all the parts to the puzzle and once you start the first part they will all merge into one so you can then burn onto a disc to slot into your RNS510.

Thanks mate!  :happy2:

Couple of precautionary questions... is the update dummy proof?

Do I run the risk of bricking my unit - and does it wipe all my music and favourite addresses, etc?

Yes you run the risk of bricking your unit but this is the same with all the f/w updates.  its not dummy proof but unlike some of the other f/w updates it can be reversed to the previous f/w so in reality it can be fixed very easily.  Again this f/w update is not like the other previous f/w updates cos it doesn't delete the hdd maps or music.

Saw, the message below. Is there a way to check if I have firmware prior to 1100?

"Warning! This upgrade WILL delete your music and/or maps if you have a firmware version PRIOR to version 1100/1102. Units with a firmware version of 1100/1102 will not have music and maps deleted."

Oh, and I guess the firmware upgrade won't make my system end up with the Skoda logo?

It's not brand specific I dont think. It didn't change my Vw logo

Would this be suitable? I assume so but I wanted to make sure. I think this is a good make, dont want to go for a chinese crappy one or does it make no odds? :happy2:

Oliie,

I don't have the Fw update to 2660, I am running 1100 at the mo.  I use the 2gb ones linked to below.  If you have the Fw update I believe that you cab use up to a 32Gb SDHD card.

But I use the 2GB versions linked to below.
