Hey all
I have a weird problem with my 2006 Mk5 GTI which seems to have started with the recent cold weather - though not 100% sure if this was just coincidence...
Basically, typically first thing, I use the remote to unlock the car and it unlocks all the doors except the driver's door. Sometimes if I press unlock a few more times the driver door eventually unlocks. When it doesn't I have to use my key to manually unlock the door and that way I gain entry to the car. :stupid:
What I've noticed is once I have done the steps above, I can once again unlock the car (including the driver's door!) until the next morning at least when the cycle starts again. :fighting:
I have made no recent changes to the car. Alarm is the standard factory fit and the only change made historically was about 2 years ago when it was recoded for 'single press unlock all doors' + 'auto-lock door when vehicle is in motion'.
Any ideas???

It's your door lock control module acting up. It's a common issue and if you are so inclined there is a guide on how to replace the part here http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,52585.0.html

Get it replaced asap before it wont unlock, then you cant open the door to change the unit.

No panic with a drivers door as you can use the key.

my s3 was doing this a few weeks back the odd time.. its been okay since though fingers crossed

Seems to be effected by cold weather. Mines also intermittent fault on the drivers door. I'm happy to live with it until it breaks completely

Just got mine changed the other month because of this.
Get it changed, it's awful pressing the button loads when it's pi**ing down!
It doesn't break the bank either!
