Title: Timing belt time
Post by: Madman1886 on February 04, 2014, 03:21:52 pm
Its now time to get the timing belt done on my GTi and after speaking to my local VW dealership they can go and take a f**k to themselves as they wanted the best part of £500 to get it and the water pump changed. Iam lucky I have a German car specialists just 3 doors up from me and he reckons £120 for the labour if I supply the parts. Does anyone know the part numbers and prices for the belt kit and water pump, and is there anything else I should get done while iam at it?

Cheers in advance !

That's not a bad price.
Imagine my shock when my local VW dealer quoted me £599, and that was in August 2012!!!!
They did give me a sweetner though. 10% discount for being a loyal customer
Needless to say I went elsewhere

Dealers here in NI seem to be quite keen at around £380-£400 for complete kit , water pump and drive belt .

Ring Dave at SERE Belfast (Seat parts dept). He did me a kit for my KO3 at a great price - £128 IIRC
