This is terrible mate. :sad1:
Could you elaborate on the whereabouts of your car when this occurred as it may alert other members of what, if anything, to avoid.

If only it was that simple. Theres no difference to leaving the car in a car park. Was in a public place on a main road (Stockport Road) in Denton outside someones house. Car was locked, I'm really anal about locking it and kept the key in chest pocket of my jacket.
the dross of sorting the bits and bobs has already started
-
So sorry to hear this mate! I assume they got it onto a low loader / recovery truck? Absolute scum bags.
Ive posted a thread over on uk-mkivs and detailing world to alert people.

Bugger. Having been there I know it's sh*t.
Hopefully they meet a real nasty end. Cnuts!
-
Im sure there would be some CCTV available which has captured the movements of your car especially if its on the back of a trailer (unless covered) considering Britain has the most CCTV cameras in the world.

Hang on so they stole the car without the keys?
You "sure" you locked it?
If it was taken onto a low loader when it was locked, the alarm would have been going crazy.

Do you press ur alarm once or twice to lock, I always used to press twice as used to dead lock previous cars but disables deadlock and alarm on the golf.

Jeez.. I did not know this. I reguarly press the "lock" button again after walking away from the car just to make sure!!
Thanks for this!

Did not know this either, and I have an OCD with doing it :scared:
-
Pretty sure it's if you press it twice within approximately 5 seconds... You can hear it if you stand near the car.
Leave it 10 seconds and press it again to check and it should be fine

I read this from another member just before christmas on this forum. Can honestly say I'm so annal about locking the car I literally stand next to the car, press the button once and place the key in my chest pocket of what ever jacket I'm wearing - never have anything else in the pocket just incase something presses it. Anal I know but thought it would help.
On a separate note - if this was to happen to anyone else, make sure you keep a log of everyone you speak to; time, date and where they are/who they are and what they've said. Its been a NIGHTMARE with the police and insurance companies (Aviva and Orange).
Spoken to so many people and each person has given a variant of the previous person. Without me doing the above i think i would have been really stuck.
GMP. I have a real gripe with them at the moment. Complained twice about not having a crime reference number, received a phone call at 11.40pm last night, officer was at my front door at 1.30am to take a statement.
yes, 11.40pm and 1.30am. Waited in the house as there request from 8.00pm 17/02/14 till 1.30am 19/02/14 to take a statement that lasted 7 minutes.
Got the crime reference number now so things are slowly moving on....
-
Really sorry to hear about this....
but I cant understand the locking procedure? do you press once and leave it or press twice to hear the clunk and thats it?
This is horrible news buddy.. I will keep my eyes out around Sale Altrincham and Timperley area.

Close the car door, press the lock button once. This deadlocks the doors, enables the alarm on the doors and the interior sensors.
Close the door, press the lock button twice in quick succession. This disables the deadlocks and disables the interior sensors. The door entry alarm is still functional.
So for maximum protection, only press the lock button once.

Are you sure it disables the deadlocks?
As the deadlocks are always active... it's not like Vauxhalls where you double-press to deadlock. I think the second button press just disables the alarm...?
-
Sorry to the OP for his loss & I hope the thieving c**ts get what they deserve, but I am totally confused on the alarm/deadlock/button pressing debate now, can we have a definete answer on wether to do 1 press or 2 presses please?
I've always double pressed as I thought the klunk you hear after the double pressing was the deadlock working
-
Wind down your window and try it. :happy2:
Single press is deadlocked and interior alarm functional. Double press is interior sensors disabled and deadlocks removed. So you can lock someone in the car and they don't set the alarm off, and can get out if they have to in an emergency.

Scumbags!

Ahh I see.
But that only would effect the internal opening of the doors, they'd need to smash a window to open it still?
-
Yeh makes it a tad harder to get the rns :scared:

But they can smash a window, enter through the window, rip the dash apart to steal the RNS510, then either exit through the window if they're cautious, or exit through the door to let you know they've finished.

If they want your car they will get it , whatever security you have on it . :innocent:

tis true...
anyone seen the remote fobs that unlock any car?
-

Quite, but there's no point having deadlocks and interior sensors, and then disabling them.

This was relatively problematic for BMW, not sure about VW

I have gap insurance, if the car turns up get it stripped to see what exactly they've done (damage wise) and put back together with original components new, well thats the plan anyway.
and yes...i have a golf r now. its nice.

That's convenient lol!!!

That's convenient lol!!!
thats the job of insurance...being a financial advisor i'd be pretty stupid not to head to my own advise about protecting financial commitments in any event forseeable.
-
It's only been gone less then 10 days !!!
Did you pay someone to get shot of it?????? :signLOL:
And a good job you had gap insurance to maximise your loss
Sorry, I'll put my fishing rods away :innocent:
I'm sure it's perfectly legit, as you wouldn't of come on an open forum to say your cars done a Paul Daniels in the 1st place.

I was thinking, that's a very "brave" insinuation to make when someone's just had their car stolen.

Just read the posts prior to it going missing, so I'll leave it there.
Nice Replacement though I will say
