gee whiz.... for $249 a pair made from some fancy zinc alloy, that's mighty steep..... :stupid:

appropriate utility and functionality only, not "artsie-fartsie" showpieces, IMO.

Interesting thread, you'd never have thought APR have an interest in Oettinger, would you?   Make it as expensive as possible and then call everything else s*** by comparison.

You know what, I really appreciate someone went to the trouble of making a full replacement switch. That is a decent product, but why limit your market by making it out of a stupid material and pricing it like that?

You bosh those out for pennies in plastic, you could mark up a 1000% and they'd still be affordable, and every DSG owner in the land would buy a set. Do these people not watch Dragon's Den  :P

Also... going on from what Neo (CMDFire) pointed out once, the 'stick on' paddles whilst having a very, very slim chance of injuring you in the event of an accident at least shear off.

Imagine in the event of a crash getting your finger caught in the wheel between the paddle and rim and it being snatched round as, say for example, the wheels hit a kurb and span it round. I know what would give first.

x 2. Exactly what tony_d said.

I haven't tried the OSIR but they look as if they don't extend sufficiently when compared with the competition - Still better than oem though.

As cmdfire points out, 'permanently' fitted extensions could be potentially very nasty in an incident - But how is this also not a danger on cars like Ferrari's?

I'm pretty sure when you see such a paddle design, they're always column mounted.

I have. They are not much taller than OEM but quite a bit fatter and of course feel great made of lacquered alloy.

Is lacquered alloy warm or cold to the touch?

Cold to start with but warming up nicely the more you touch them. Exactly like scrotum skin then.
