Hi,
I've had my 2.0TDI for about 6 months now and I've modded it a fair bit (cosmetically) but now I think its time for performance based upgrades to give it some bite to go with its bark
So where do you guys think should I start with it? Remap? or other things first and then a remap, I've looked on the Superchips website (they're what my local VAG specialists use so I'd probably go with them as they didn't have a good word for Revo even though they previously stocked it) and a remap should take me from 140 to 177BHP which is quite a leap to begin with.
Are there any other smaller performance mods (new air intake or something?) that I can do too, I'd rather not mod it to the stage where I have to start swapping the turbo and upgrading the clutch etc quite yet and I'm not quite sure how far I can take it before it starts to get out of hand.
I just wanted to check before i forked out for a remap as I guess it might be better to do the other stuff first then have the map done or does it not matter?

When I had mine it was remapped, if you will keep it long enough you'll probably have to change the turbo and/or clutch kit inc DMF anyway as they are a bit maxed out.
Look at what Maxitrol and Trekmeister have done with hybrid turbo's etc on the BKD for inspiration.

did some one call :signLOL:
-
Ok well I've got it for another 3 years minimum so it sounds like I'll end up changing the clutch and turbo, just a shame because its only got 65k on it but I guess the clutch and DMF will need doing eventually, I'll have to check out Darkside Developments then
-
Am running a hybrid turbo on the standard clutch as long as you don't keep slipping the clutch or drive like a idiot it will be fine on just a remap
-
Same here, still on standard clutch. Depends how you drive the car. Got an uprated one sat waiting thoough ;)
-
My DMF went at 70k/6.5 years, clutch was fine when I took it out.
-
Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'll get a remap and then wait until the DMF needs replacing before taking it any further.
-
In fairness there have been a ton of stock cars needing DMF and turbo replacements, so just something to consider in the future and enjoy it in the meantime

:happy2:
-
Was hoping the DMF might last a little longer than another 5k haha, its not shown any signs of needing replacement yet, I guess I'll have to wait and see.
Then again I don't do mega miles so I'll just have to keep it in mind as something to save up for.

It was just for info, what I mentioned. You could get a few years out of it still.

Yeah, thanks, in fairness I'd rather know it was on the horizon and prepare by saving up a bit to get the job done than suddenly realise it needs doing and have to fork out a fair bit of money.

Life's short so start with a good remap (where are you located?) as it transforms the BKD into a perky beast with loads of usable torque.
An OEM paper filter is as good as anything, no point having an induction kit on a diesel other than for looks.
-
Fair enough, I thought there must be a reason why Forge etc don't seem to do much in terms of induction kits for TDIs.
I'm in Dorset and theres a pretty good Superchips dealer (who work in partnership with the VAG specialist Indie that look after my cars for me) so I'd probably go with them. I bought my wheels off the guy who owns it a couple of weeks ago so I got chatting to him about it and he didn't have a good word for Revo but said he could do it if I wanted.

A nice cold air feed wouldn't give a miss can be done for around £10
Also Backbox delete and/or decatt is a good move on the Tdi
I have a BKD and with a really strong remap and the above mods I made 203bhp 322ft lbs
