Title: RCD 510 can bus
Post by: xonk on March 31, 2014, 12:28:02 pm
Hi,

Just picked up an RCD 510 from a friend and have a 2005 GTI. After reading on the forum I see i also need an upgraded CAN bus. Do you know where the best place to pick one of these up? I just missed one in the for sale section I believe.

thanks

You will need to program the Gateway using VCDS. If you don't have VCDS, you can locate your nearest friendly forum member here - http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,120.0.html)

thanks for the info, a big list but nobody near Dublin, I see the cable is not that cheap either!

if the Radio came from a similar car would this work or would it require details of mine via VCDS to work?

My advice would be to speak with Eddie-NL as he can provide pre coded Gateways meaning it will be plug and play
