Sorry, not really a mk5 question but does anybody happen to know the correct interval for the cambelt and water pump change on a Mk6 Golf? I thought it was at 4yrs but my dealer told me it was 5yrs, I just wanted to confirm before spending £300 replacing the bits.
Thanks.

It tells you in the service book mandy. :happy2:

Quite a few people reckon its 5 years now, would like it in writing tbf lol
What does your handbook say??
I read the other day that from August 2009 it has been changed to 5 years, yet my handbook says 4.

I did look in the manual but it's a bit vague. All I can see is that it says to inspect it at 60k miles... My dealer did say cars from '09 onwards are at 5yrs. :scared:

Speak to VW UK customer service for the concrete answer for that.

Mine will be done soon and well ahead of any VW schedule.

The belt change times always makes me laugh from the VW family group. My Focus says 10 years or 100,000 miles and same for my misiss Fiesta. I don't know why VW say 4 years or X amount of miles, as the belts are made from the same material and have the same stresses placed on them.
