Title: Forum sprint day
Post by: Tfsi_Mike on April 21, 2014, 06:38:03 pm
Am I the only person that thinks that for how much the 1/4 batters clutches its pretty boring?

Shows the quicker (& slower) all round cars & drivers.

I attended the Club Gti sprint trackday last year at Curborough and that kind of competetive event is so much more interesting!

Most trackday organisers run sprint orientated days at various circuits.  Where one by one you do one lap at a time, as one finishes the next goes so theres constant activity.  I would say Curborough is borderline too small for the Mk5 chassis.

Could be a platform for tuners & detailers etc to display their work too, make it into a Mk5 forum mini show lol

The most challenging bit as with any other large scale meet is getting a date and venue that suits the masses.

Date poll added here http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,82640.0.html (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,82640.0.html)

Thoughts?

Just brainstorming at the mo.  But as mentioned Blyton Park may be a good value and fairly central place?

the track variations look quite good. I quite like the eastern circuit as there seems to be more turns. Who chooses the circuit? :happy2:

The date will likely be the hardest part. When I hear back from Blyton, I'll start getting the consensus for dates.

Have spoken to Richard @ Blyton and Colin @ Javelin.

I'll stick a poll up when I get in. Just shopping for a recaro for Tfsi Junior

Well it can't be on everyone's doorstep I suppose, it certainly isn't on mine either.

Means we have to stay in a hotel and have some laughs  :happy2:

*Assuming I'd be invited, seeing as I don't own a VAG (ignoring the A6 wagon).

I believe Clubgti are doing Blyton this year, with a half day open pit lane and then half a day of timed runs.
