Title: Major Service coming up - London / Essex

Hi Guys,

I have a Golf GTi MK5 that I am due to collect early next week. I was wondering whether you guys could recommend me a dealer / garage who would be good to deal with for a major service and a Cambelt + Water pump change?

The car is an 06, and is on 63000 miles. The last belt change was in 2010 at approximately 32000 miles.

Just on the border of East London and Essex. Ilford to be precise. I don't mind travelling a reasonable distance for quality workmanship and good prices. I've just given cambeltking a ring, and will wait for them to give me a price.

Cambelt King have got back to me this morning. They have quoted a price of over £400!

I am thinking of going with AMD tuning in Thurrock. they are offering the service at £312 which is much more reasonable.

What are they like to deal with?

The guys at AMD are pretty helpful and pleasant.

They don't have a seating area so be prepared to but if you walk across to Lakeside until your car is ready for collection you can have a great coffee as it's only a 5 minute walk.

The seating area is upsatirs with chairs and a tv. Ha ha. AMD are very good to deal with  :happy2:

I went to the cinema while they were fitting all my stage 2+ goodies. Just up the road in the shopping centre.
