Title: noobie Looking for an edition 30 soon. Any advice ?
Post by: lambera on May 25, 2014, 03:47:01 pm
Well hello I am new to the forum and to eddie 30's I know lets say a fair bit about them from info I have gathered and just general knowledge.
What I want to know is if there is any signs to look out for apart from the usual with eddies I will be looking at a DSG model I think as I have heard great things about that gearbox. I would probably buy a tuned one but would also buy a stock example. I have been looking at going with REVO software as I know people who have dealt with them in the past and there software seems spot on but I have seen a lot of people go with APR also so if someone could shed some light on this topic that would be great also.
Thanks

You won't go far wrong if you buy one from somebody off these forum's,take your time and look in the for sale section and the right one will come along. :happy2:

Don't bother with Revo. Use Rtech instead and save yourself a fortune witha tuned car with its own bespoke Remap, and not a generic remap from Revo..

Use the search tab if you want evidence to support my claims

Before you get hung up on choosing any mods (big brands not necessarily the best)

Take some time to search through the wealth of information, reviews, results  on the forum and you will find the best modifications for your car without breaking the bank.

Saintsteve (above) has given you a starter for 10 there  :happy2:

I've just gone from a manual Gti to a dsg ed30. The dsg is very smooth and feels much quicker day to day than the manual. Just setting off can be less smooth if your not used to it. Go for it pal!

Make sure you get a DSG one! Easy in day to day driving, flat out when on the paddles and with a BCS Powervalve, the DSG parps are INSANE & addictive. But they are great cars, K04+DSG is a win win  :happy2:

400 bhp with ease on its OEM clutch packs..manual gearbox need heavy mods to support same horsepower in my example.  :happy2:

I would estimate at least 60% of the mapped cars on the forums have been R-tech'd!!!

Custom map + cost saving > generic map

Would you prefer to be able to launch a car with 280 ponies, with a more progressive throttle , or would you go for a 300bhp car that sits on the line spinning it's wheels... :innocent:

It's all about the area under the curve, and what  people's reasons are for switching to Rtech, and why is service is so highly spoken of.

Peak figures are not what it's about fella. :happy2:

R-tech stage 1 maps make 300bhp every day of the week. Highest one I've seen was 314bhp if I remember correctly.

Mine made 314bhp and 309lbft at R-Tech but that was with just an ITG intake. From memory the DSG box limits the torque though which apparantly varies from car to car.

An R-Tech DSG map will sort that out though, something i keep meaning to get booked in for  :jumping:
