Title: Wheel alignment in Oldham/Manchester
Post by: karl210 on June 09, 2014, 02:09:18 pm
I want to book my car in for 4 wheel alignment, im from Oldham area in Manchester. I dont want to send it to some idiots so im wondering if anyone has any reccomendations around this area? ideally if they can do a good job of fitting tyres too as ive got 4 tyres that need fitting but i want them balanced to perfection and no paint chipping off my wheels. I cant seem to find a place that can balance wheels properly and not scratch the paint on my wheels. thanks

These guys are local to you and come with high ratings for geo/alignement. Don't think they fit tyres though.

As for tyre fitting, I've always used Direct Tyres Newbridge Lane,Stockport SK1 2NX as they have the correct machine for 18" rims.

Yeah ive heard good things about them, i had them in mind. As for getting my wheels balanced am i best off removing old weights before taking it into them or do they remove them before re-balancing anyway? Dont want them to keep adding and adding weights. I just want it all absoloutly spot on

The tyre fitter should remove all the old wheel weights before trying to balance your wheels.

I got mine done at the above drury lane  seemed decent people before and after print out etc expensive as mentioned but the machine is worth thousands so it's gonna cost a bit more then a normal alignment machine.

How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking? The tyres aren't wearing unevenly or anything so shouldn't need much adjustment

ouch, i was expecting somewhere between £70-£100 if they do a good job then i suppose its worth it but is it really worth it if im not getting any uneven tyre wear, got the tiniest pull to the left but think that's normal

Yeah I had a pull to the left as well which was still there after words but they said it could be the wheels etc.

I've recently had 2 new front tyres fitted and now it's gone.

Ive always been under the impression a slight pull to the left is normal due to the camber of most roads
