Dunno if this may help people that want to go down the lease route rather than buy outright, but this seems like a good deal.
The most powerful production Golf yet, the 300 PS Golf R can be leased for a staggering £229.20 per month on this 6+23 month lease profile. Only 5,000 miles per annum, but if you've a short commute like me this is very tempting.
As it is a lease deal Road Tax is provided by the lease company.
This car retails at £30,555 and comes in Tornado Red. You can pay a little more for a different colour.
The 3dr (which looks better, yet is less practical) can be had for £1.20 per month more. The spec looks fully loaded

hope it helps someone

Been talking to a few lads about these the past week since the deals came back out. It really is unreal value for money. You can get a DSG car for £250 a month.
Does make me want to sell the ED30 and order one.
-
would love 1 but how would you not want to mod it
-
5000 miles per year..... yeah ok! Id rather do 20k in mine than 5k in a mk7R
-
i was in vw a few weeks back when a 3 and 5 door came of the transporter.... was soooooo tempted
-
I do around 15k a year change it on there site I'd be better off on higher purchase :indifferent:
-
Never gone down the leasing route, but might with these kind of offers.
I only do 5k a year in my Eddy anyway, will defo have to see what colour options there are though....red
-
you sure thats the latest 300 hp one has it says list price 24k thats not right, should be 30 k

-
Yeah... either buy one or dont. Lease seems like a good idea but i dont think this is a good deal .
-
So sell your current car, bank the money and lease the new one. Seems good to me.
At the end of the term you still have your cash in the bank unless you've spunked it on drugs and hookers.
Simples!

Yeah.. thats the problem mate.... :popcornsoda:
-
Sell your car
Buy a car you can do 5000 a year in?
Seems legit!

So say you say sell your Ed30 for 10k, bank it, then lease a Golf R for a cost of £5500 over the two years, oh and the £1100 deposit out of your 10k budget in the small print...and this will be a bare bones spec car with a stick shifter..... No options on it...
Hmmm ..
Your then gonna have £3850 to buy another good quality replacement??
I know the R is good, I'd rather buy it with a private loan from the bank and do the repayments that way personally.
But that's the way I would go about it. I wouldn't wanna give that sort of car up.
-
Imagine you have no car now...
You either buy a car for 10k and after 2 years it's worth maybe 7 and has cost you between nothing and up to let's say 3000 in maintainence.
So that's cost you 6k at least!!
Where as this you can have a brand new car with warranty that won't need any work at all for the duration of your ownership..
-
If you don't mind Pov spec the deal is ok.
As for mileage it will depend on the penalty charges for exceeding...might be worth paying this rather than agreeing a higher mileage at the start of the lease.
-
I don't think it's a bad deal at all considering its a brand new car, just don't load it with all the options!
-
You can increase the milage to suit your driving but the price goes up.
I imagine that when you hand the car back they will go over it with a fine tooth comb and bill you for every little mark or damage to the car.
prices also exclude VAT.
-
seems cheap compared to the skoda vrs deals tbh!
-
There's quite a long thread on the R forum on this, there are very good deals about if PCP works for you.
If i didn't do the mileage i do i'd have gone that route
-
I was tempted but there's only a few tuning options out at the moment one of which is a dtuk tuning box which I am not keen on and not sure the lease company will look to kindly on any mods. Will upgrade to one next year when's my current R is paid off.
-
I'd like one but to get something equivalent to what I have now (5dr, DSG, Nav) the price jumps up. Still a very good deal if you can live with the standard spec though.
-

Good news then
Not too keen on front end and the 4 tail pipes but would still have one when the times right :happy2:
-
I am loving mine (delivered Monday morning) :happy2:
Went with 3dr DSG in Pure White, no other options needed (it has parking sensors front and rear and cruise control which is all I would have optioned if not standard anyway).
Leasing can be beneficial if you want a new car and even better if you can claim the VAT back :happy2: and get to use a brand new car, net cost over 2 years £7k (after claiming VAT back on lease cost).
-
Also ordered one today. 5 door, white, dsg. Winter pack, dcc ans smokers pack.

You should know better Graeme...it's not what the figures are about. If anything that Superchips normally do, I'd avoid it them like the plague on my 30K motor.
-
I do believe Superchips are also factory vetted.... it was either them or Bluefin... so your warranty would still be valid... at least, they used to be.
-
the new owner for my car will be waiting for the R-Tech 2020 map

Never.

2030 but it will be worth the wait just as the Golf Mk15 comes out.
-
I enquired about a 1.4 TSI 170 ages and ages ago at my local dealer and asked about remapping, they said they offered Superchips remap and this would not invalidate the warranty.
Suspect it may be dealer specific.

Does anyone want a mint Tornado Red Edition 30 DSG?
I've just ordered a Golf R, DSG, 3 Doors, Pure White, 19" Pretoria Alloy Wheels & Winter Pack. :jumping:

As Hedge said - worth waiting for
@Saintsteve - they will be mapping the mk7 like they did the K04 no doubt - fling open the actuator and let the turbo work flat out for that initial surge. . . Then tail out towards the top end
-
just a thought.... anyone getting a mk7 will be able to get developmental work done and get the finish item free, I've done this with samco and spec R before. companies are always looking for new vehicles to play with

I should decide by next week whether it not I'm placing an order.
Trying to get a hold of a demonstrator first. I have to know what it's like on fuel in the real world.
The 5k miles a year is a massive issue - however, it's 6p per mile for anything over. Might be worth paying the extra each year for over clocking the allowance.
-
fuel wise is about the same as my Ed35

Just for reference if you did 15k a year (covering the average use of most of us) ... costs are as follows using the website and current figures.
5K per annum limit
Personal Leasing
£230.40 per month (incl. VAT)
Initial payment
£1152.00 (excl. VAT) - £1,382.40 inc VAT
2 Year Lease Cost = £5,529.60
Excess Mileage charge of 10000 miles @ 6pence per mile = £6000 per year (Total £12,000)
Total 2 Year Cost doing 15k miles per year (minus fuel, insurance etc) = £17,529.60
15k Per Annum limit.
Personal Leasing
£487.45 per month (incl. VAT)
Initial payment
£2,437.26 (excl. VAT) - £2,924.71 inc VAT
2 Year Lease Cost = £11,698.80
Excess Mileage charge = £NONE
Total 2 Year Cost doing 15k miles per year (minus fuel, insurance etc) = £11,698.80
So you would be far better off taaking a higher mileage lease policy.
That being said, if you were doing that sort of miles and could afford a larger deposit you would probably be better off with a HP deal from a dealer.

im obviously missing something here but how have you calculated 15k a year to be an Excess Mileage charge of 7000 miles? 10,000?
-
I inquired about this at the weekend. Got the following from Vehicle Savers on Monday morning. She mentions Solid White as that was the colour I picked, and 5K a year is OK for me as I use the train to get to work.
I have saved quotes as follows (Cheaper to have 5k pa rates and pay the excess of 6p per mile 10k pa adds £41 + vat to the rental!)
VW Golf R 5dr 2.0TSI Manual
Solid Red - (Add £9 + vat for Solid White)
6+23 5k pa £181 + vat (£300 + vat admin fee)
3+23 5k pa £204 + vat (£300 + vat admin fee) (3dr is £206.20 + vat)
VW Golf R 5dr 2.0TSI Manual
Metallic Paint
6+23 5k pa £198 + vat (£300 + vat admin fee)
VW Golf R 5dr 2.0TSI DSG auto
Solid Red (Add £9 + vat for Solid White)
6+23 5k pa £205 + vat (£300+ vat admin fee)
VW Golf R 5dr 2.0TSI DSG auto
Metallic Paint
6+23 5k pa £222 + vat (£300+ vat admin fee)

Yeah sorry originally I calculated at 12k a year but realised i couldn't compare it directly to the other lease options (5, 10, 15..)

Unless I am being stupid, or I am missing something I think you have calculated the miles at 60p per mile.
It should be 0.06x10000 which equals £600 for a year and then £1200 for two years.
-

Correct me if I am wrong but...
10,000 miles @ 6p a mile = £600 per year (Total £1200) (10000 x 6p) / 100 = £600
edit: mac456 didn't see your comment lol

I've been on the phone to enquire and I asked about maintainance package as I will prob do about 8k a year. The maintainance is £12 a month and with this extra miles go from 6p per mile upto 10p per mile, but service costs and tyres are included in this ! Even more tempting as I'm sure I'd need more than 1 set of tyres in 2 years ! To me the deal is even more appealing now
-
Let's hope they sell an absolute boat load of these
- as in 2 years time the market will be flooded with them being offered with circa 10k miles at affordable purchase outright prices.
-
I've been sent this deal as well after looking at getting rid of my Focus, looking at either the R or GTD? And also the Leon FR
Been quoted £189.99 + Vat and £500 + Vat on the deposit base car solid colour
-
I've booked a back to back test drive of the R and the GTD for tomorrow.
At this moment in time, my head is fighting with my heart over the 2.
Heart says R. Head says GTD.
I can get the R for £20pcm less than what most people can get them, due to my brother being a leasing broker.
Basically, cost price. I was certain to order the R - until I found out my oldest got accepted in to school that will add around 50 miles a week to my journey. That's going to cut a sizeable chunk in to my 8,000m pa allowance. The GTD comes with a limit of 10k per year and is cheaper on the pence per mile thereafter.

The difference is quite incredible, which is to be expected.
I test drove both back to back, getting a GTD as a company car but drove the R as it was there. The GTD can hold it's own on the road and is surprisingly good at handling in the bends as well.
I will be interested to hear your opinions!
-
If I'm honest, I know what I'll get from the R. Pace and glue like handling.
I'm more interested in what the GTD can offer. If it's 2/3 of the car the R is - as figures suggest, then the GTD might just win the argument. One other thing that I have to bear in mind is, I will remap the GTD but will leave the R stock.
I really do want the R. These are incredible deals - but it won't be the last time. These deals come along fairly often. I nearly got a 135i M sport for £260 all in 6 months back - but the wife deemed it to be too small and cramped inside.
-
Had my 2 test drives today:
Absolutely fell in love with the R....
It goes allot faster than most people can imagine. I'd even go as far as saying it 'felt' every bid as quick to 100kph (
-
Where's the rest of my post gone?
I've just spend about 30mins writing it!!!!!
Well, here's the highlights.
Loved the R
Loved the R
Loved the R
Etc etc
Should have driven GTD first. I like the GTD.
Loved the R.
R returned 22mpg on 10 mile drive: GTD returned 47.
GTD wins because I'm in the middle of a career change and my mileage is likely to increas by September.
Loved the R.
-
Sounds like puppy love to me...
-
Is this deal on at all stealers or just specific ones? It's very tempting.
-
Its all up in the air at the mo, the deal is though brokers and it was using a loophole. VW have cottoned on to it......
-
Just had a reply back from the company I'll be using and they have quoted on a personal contract with 10k pa on the Golf R £270 inc Vat pcm

thanks mate, if your happy to say on an open forum or pm me. what sort of deposit?

Seems the cheap 'R' deals are over unless you are a business customer, VW have today dropped 1.5k from the GFV on 2 year PCPs and therefore raising the monthly payment and have pulled the cheap 'personal' lease deals...
-
i see they don't offer the service package now either, you can pay £500 for 3 years free servicing. they used in include this in the deal
-
£500+Vat deposit
-
£500+Vat deposit
thats nots bad at all
-
Not at all, at that price you could include the maintanance schedule for less than what some want has a deposit
-
Darren, I'd definitely check whether VWFS are underwriting the quoted deal as that's VERY cheap for £500+vat deposit and 10k pa assuming it's a personal lease?
Lots of disappointed people on the r forum now having their orders pulled even those with build dates and tracker numbers for build! :fighting:

GTD is probably the MK7 that I'd end up going for too, definitely the sensible choice if you do a few miles and drives fantastically and sounds great if you spec the sport and sound pack! :happy2:
