Title: My Edition 30
Post by: jamie on June 16, 2014, 06:02:16 pm
Hi all,

I thought I'd put up a couple of shots of my 2007 Golf Edition 30 that I've had for a few months.

Since I've had it I've had to fix the RNS-510 as it had a dim screen issue, I've had the brake discs and pads changed all round as well as having the DSG oil and filter change.

The next job on the list is to replace the tyres and the front suspension as it's sunk on the front nearside (possibly springs or something else worn?).  Not sure whether to go with OEM or uprate it.  I'd also like to improve the quality of the sound system as it's got way too much top end and not a lot of low.

Really enjoying the car though and I'm tempted by a remap.    Anyway, here is the spec:

Diamond black metallic paint
DSG
Multi-function steering wheel
Xenons
RNS-510
6 CD multi-changer
iPod connection
Electric Sunroof
Cruise Control
Auto lights
Auto wipers
Reversing sensors
10 speaker upgrade
Factory tinted glass

When I bought it had done 19,500 miles, but it's got about 21,000 on it now.  Here it is after a quick wash and polish...

Since I've had it I've spotted a few Edition 30s on my travels, one in Bristol, one at the Dartford tolls and one drove past me in Ipswich the other day (most unexpected) - same as mine but the 5 door version.

May catch some of you soon no doubt.

It's gone to VW today to have a the springs looked at.

Then new tyres and I'll be happy!  It's currently got Michelins on there so I'm thinking replace like for like.

Two new springs on the front and it's now much better handling-wise.

nice motor mate  :happy2:

Thanks mate.

Yes, regarding the RNS dim screen, I replaced the screen board (the board behind the screen that the controls are fixed too, and that sorted the problem.

The sunroof seems quite a rare option...I guess it's the days of air con that mean less people go for it?

Do you have a thread up on here for your car?  Always like to see Edition 30s!

I'm not sure if I plan to modify the Golf now - I like it standard and may sell in the near future...

Cheers!

Actually I've been wondering whether to put the car up for sale as I'm a bit of a dilemma!  I like the fact it's standard, unmodified and in great condition.  I'd like to experience a stage 1 Golf but don't know if this is the car to modify...

It's currently got 27,000 miles on it.  I've owned it for about 8 months.  But in that time I've:

- had the DSG service (by VW)
- had the water pump and cam belt replaced (by VW)
- had all discs and pads replaced (by VW)
- had the front springs replaced (by VW)

It's also just about to go in for it's first service as part of a 3 year service plan (so it's got another 2 years (yes 2) after this).  This first one is a major service - all with VW.

I've been watching some of the prices on various websites and I'm not sure what it's worth - they do seem to vary.  So I just thought I'd put a few feelers out to gauge interest.  This car does have pretty much every possible extra on it, including a sunroof.

Unless of course you all say keep it and modify it in which case I just might!

Get it done mate, the difference from just standard to stage 1 is enough for a big smile!!! you wouldnt regret it, certainly worth keeping such a clean low mileage car!!

Some new photos - March 2016.

Considering selling and am putting some feelers out for a value.  Depending on what the market is like, I may keep it and remap it as that was part of my initial plans for the car.  However, I fancy a mk5 diesel Golf or some sort of Estate!

Not had any issues with the Eagle F1s - I don't live on the edge of grip though through the bends!
