So today i finally set about fitting an AUX ashtray. I took me months to fit one and VW another month to get the mat, ordered an MDI - AUX loom off EDDY-NL. managed to fit it in 10 mins as the cable threaded though the centre console really easily.

both looms joined together.

all in place and wired up.

the only problem is that because the cigerete lighter in on the other side it sits on the front armrest heater pipe. so out it all came

I get slightly thicker foam than that, but nothing like what I've seen on the web... I've got a decent lance, and foam, tried various settings and amounts of solution, but never get that stupidly thick stuff that's like shaving foam...  :popcornsoda:
when i did the mrs car it was mega thick, i only brought some cheap stuff from halfords. going to buy some autobrite next

Car is looking very well! First thing I did with mine was to remove all the dealer stickers...
Can't believe how the centre caps have such a short life :fighting:. Replaced mine not long after buying, along with the whitened bolt covers. Just these couple of new parts make a very noticeable difference to the overall look of the car
PS, Ridgeway Reading... bunch of absolute jokers!

Looks good! Mine came with a full kit fitted however a couple of them were either really dim or not on at all, so I took it in bits to investigate and discovered that the LED circuit boards were really loose in the terminals. I sorted them all out and they work fine now, did you have any problems like this?

Those look really good! Gives it a blue tint instead of the yellow ones the standard bulbs give. Might invest in a set of LED side lights post Christmas myself, along with some nice bright bulbs. Cheaper than Xenon lights!

I think the best halogen bulb in the market atm is the Philips X-treme Vision +130% H7 (3700K and 1650 lumens). It's expensive though.

I got a pair of OSRAM Night Breaker Unlimited for my Flash To Pass halogen bulbs because they're almost as good (3600K and 1500 lumens) but 2/3 of the Philips's price.

DamoP, what a beautiful example of an edition 30. It's apparent that a lot of time and effort has gone into to it. I have to get some advice from you, I have the mdi dock in the arm rest with usb and 30 pin ipod cable in my edition 30. I borrowed a mk7 golf lightening cable ( black cable with green surround) but it was not compatible. Do you have a compatible cable for iPhone 5s?

thanks mate. what was the last letter of the cable? the earlier versions didn't work. the latest versions do. also it could mean you need to check that you have the latest version of firmware.

I went for non-res, which gave the car a bit of voice. I think if I go full system, then it might be a bit loud with the DP too...

-H&R sway bars
-Brembo front calipers

PS: I've remebered a couple more mods possible. :signLOL:

Which have you liked? And what do you mean when you say "try something different"? Interior mods or mechanic mods?

I've started buying brake parts

got some drilled and groves rear disc
doing a GB on HEL lines soon
then something for the fronts

cant go much lower with the suspension due to where i live. but will be doing bushes at some point

only need a few more interior bits. mk6 climate is on the cars then think i have just about every mod / factory retrofit inside

just got a DAB unit so will fit a new aerial and not be changing the head unit as I'm on my 4th already  :signLOL:

thinking about wrapping my splitter and lower bumper

I only lowered my suspension a bit, more for the benefit that Eibach Pro-Kit give to the ride: more comfort and lower body roll. For me they're awesome for the value.

If you don't want to lower your ride you can think on some Koni FSD 2100-4090 when your dampers are blown out.

Only now I've noticed that you're on the 4th HU! :surprised:

I think you'd love a RNS-510 with DAB. Just me saying... :innocent:

Better bushes and the ALK will make a big difference to improve your ride. :happy2:

i looking into handling next year.

i don't need a sat nav hence why i went for a DAB. and saved over £500

Fair enough. More money available to improve the handling.

I need the navigation and although I have it in my smartphone it's easier to control the RNS-510 with the voice or touch.

rear flashing lights under hard braking

Oh no you haven't.
Huh
It can't be done on a Mk5 apparently, even though you can tick it on vcds.

Nice mod! One I want to complete - this loom looks a little bit different to the kufatec loom I found for rear seat lighting
Any pics of fitting?
I would ask Eddie-NL directly, but he never responds to me on PMs or posts on other topics, so  :sad1: :surprised:.

You just have to break really hard to a stand still and the warning lights will turn on automatically.

I don't need evidence. I've seen it working plenty of times, specially after I fitted the R32 front brakes. I only knew I had that after many months of owning my Golf. You really have to brake hard.

You need the ABS to kick in before they flash

On my Mk5 I only got them to flash once, when some moron pulled out in front of me I stamped on the brakes.

Love the latest mod Damo, cars looking great!  I've been wanting to do this for a while, What parts did you need apart from the unit and the trim? I have read something somewhere about a quality sensor? Also was the coding in process a farse? I personally don't have VAGCOM but is it straight forward if I took it to someone who does?

^^^^ no other parts reqiured?

Air Quality Sensor (AQS) is not needed and most peeps don't bother BUT is great little mod that's available if you add a Mk6 Climatronic to you car, added one to mine  (or should say, I had one added) and it's always on.....doing it's thang!

Ahh I see, so VAGCOM isn't actually required for this mod? Can you go wrong when buying the climatronic unit? I found one on eBay for £60.00, are there different types or are they all the same?

^^^^ no other parts reqiured?

Air Quality Sensor (AQS) is not needed and most peeps don't bother BUT is great little mod that's available if you add a Mk6 Climatronic to you car, added one to mine  (or should say, I had one added) and it's always on.....doing it's thang!

what does it do? didn't fit it as most people with 2007 + don't bother

All the info on AQS etc is in here fella........

While the weather was good pull the A,B,C pillars off and dropped the headlining. When i changed the head unit i added the DAB  Fakra 5.5 meter cable and just left it under the dash. Once all the trims were off it took 2 seconds to run it to the rear of the car.
