Due the 50k service on my Edition 30, and so far my book has FVWSH so although I haven't in other cars and had a comprehensive ATS service as this car feels somewhat more special I think I should stick with VW? It's just the prices that put me off! The ATS comprehensive service is £175 but I don't know if they use VW parts.
Noticed this http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/owners/servicing and wondered whether the 50k counts as a minor service? Can't find any more specific price guides
Comments welcome
Cheers Mike

I can't believe anyone will offer you more money for a 7+ year old car just because it has fvwsh.

FVWSH was one of the reasons I bought it, I didn't pay more for it, but I did buy it and didn't buy others that weren't as well documented. Maybe that's just me?

Personally i wouldn't touch ATS, find a VW specialist in your area. Even better, ask for recommendations :)

I use ATS for tyres but I wouldn't use them for anything else. I FVWSH doesn't mean a lot on older cars, I'd find a specialist

I've heard some shocking stories about main dealers. I had a first hand experience with Audi. I took my A4 in for a service, then about 2 weeks later I needed to change my tensioners, and took it to an Audi specialist as they would do it at about half the price. When the specialist drained my engine he found the oil was very dirty. He showed me the colour of it, there is no way that Audi changed it when servicing, despite ticking the schedule...
Whilst I'm sure the majority of stealers are top quality, I would rather a competent mechanic using OEM parts that relies on the quality of his work for business than a spotty teenager with all the gear & no idea at the main dealers. In my opinion FVWSH doesn't mean sh*t.
If you're in the Bedfordshire area I will happily point you at a decent VAG specialist mate.
Much love :happy2:

I'm not anymore but thanks, used to live in Milton Keynes and always used Vagtech and then Total-VAG in Leighton Buzzard. :happy2:
But these were on cupras that didn't have the dealer history so was just more curious to what people thought

I'd always had my 2006 GTi serviced at VW mainly due to it being right near where I work and the prices weren't too bad. This year though I needed a few little jobs doing and then a few months later a service, cambelt, etc but I took it to a mechanic that the family use instead. I didn't think it really mattered if an 8 year old car still full VWSH plus VW prices seem to have shot up so it was cheaper
