superb  :happy2: , that track always looks great fun
in terms of the sport cups , what pressure do you run at , and how to they warm in on the first few laps?
cheers  :happy2:

John, they're really good. Couple of laps and they're like chewing gum and don't change from there onwards - really stable and epic amounts of grip. You don't feel them going away at all.

Started at 2.2F/2.3R and just dropped .1F

TC, pads were great once I'd driven through the judder... apparently you don't put them on used discs without roughing them up. I didn't notice when bedding in, but I got feedback on the drive down and during the morning session.. I had to basically try and kill the pads to cure it. As soon as I'd done that, they were great, perfect for the track/conditions.

On track?

Atom, F430 CS, 'vettes, Ultima GTR, porkers, CSL Cup, loads of Evo Xs, a 700BHP RX8, Nissan GTRs and lots of other play things - a real big boys day.

The day was great fun, there's no telling what my car was really faster/slower than as I didn't speak to the drivers, but I scalped some surprising stuff.

That track looks awsome with a gorgeous backdrop. Good pics mate. Would love to do a trackday, but I'm so scared of binning it. Saying that I may be doing the RING for my 30th next June, been practicing on forza 2/3 for 2 years

Pauli, so long as you keep your head and a check on what the car is doing, you're fine. If you start getting red mist, come in. If the brakes start feeling spongy, come in. Most days offer tuition, get a session - everyone needs it.

You can get 1 day cover from all sorts of places, some insurers such as Greenlight offer track day cover as part of their policies too - so you're covered just in case.

VC - The wheels seem to be getting a lot of love from all areas, but not as much love as the little oval thing on the bumper you did for me - instant cult classic. Thanks!

Im sorry to point out that TD had the slowest Mk5 gti at the track day........(love you really hunni bun).

The Anglesey day was amaizing!, so different to Oulton park featuring cheeky neg camber corners and fast straights leading to 2nd gear super slow corners. I also noticed the guys running it (circuit days) seemed to be a lot more relaxed that the MSV days, however this could be simply down to the marshalls.  The entire day went almost fault free.  My fire extinguisher very kindly set itself off during a lap, mid corner might I add.  Deciding choking and the distraction was bad I pitted to sort it out, later on in the day I almost hit the side of an MR2 that had spun, but didnt so all is good.

There were some big toys there as TD pointed out, my claim to fame should be passing the F430 and ultima but its clear that they were not pushing that hard (although it took me 4 laps to catch the ultima, and a full lap to pass it).  there was a wide range of cars on track including a 200sx drifting every single corner, it looks cool but you dont really want that behind you its distracting and I think he got told to calm down.

Im very happy with how my car performed, the Bio mix helped with top end speed, 3rd and 4th gear seem to go on and on, after some cautious calculations we worked to a "safety zone" and the difference in power is amazing.  As usual the ds2500's were faultless but my next mods are going to be all about eliminating body roll but maintaining comfort (see the pics for what im on about).

I think DSG is what makes this car good on track, you can make so much time up braking, turning and shifting down all at exactly the same time! it also felt better thanks to the milltek non res because you could actually hear my car

anyways here are a few pics :-

ha ha mike had been winding me up all week about a "prezzie", turned out to be the win sticker, epic!  we all had them too so nobody messed with out ftmfw gang

TC I would love to tell you more but "what goes on track stays on track"  :signLOL:, actually me and mike stayed away from each other, were a "little" competetive and it could have ended in tears, I was even kind enough to share my secret fuel as a sign of mutual respect (it was origionaly going to be a supprise trick but I couldnt hold my water)

They're a bit of an oddball wheel, a Magnesium OZ Monte Carlo - pukka motorsport rather than your off the shelf jobbie. No issues with brake clearance.

Same as these.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys, If you haven't done a track day I cant reccommend getting out on track highly enough.  Im sure we all have little spurts of "spirited driving" on the roads, well this is just like that but legal.  Its perfectly safe as long as you know your own limits and obey the rules designed for everyones safety.  The wear and tear on the car should only be consumables and limited to how hard/often you track.

I would also like to point out that my car is my pride and joy, and by no means treated like a track slag.  It also gets the usual claybar/wax/shiney bits that the reglar gti owner would offer his pride and joy.

Danza.......... rockingham is well too far away, lets do a 30-130 day before then  :driver: FTMFW

30-130 = Yawn - straights are for gays (so to speak)

Now, I could be talked into Cadwell next month for £89, open pit...

Anglesey looks good havent tried there yet, (bit of a trek from the south east) it'll be a weekend away next year  :happy2: Only ever done Cadwell on a bike but loved it, another one I have to tick of the list with the Edition 30
Tony_Danza how are you getting on venting your front discs??

Anglesey was pretty cool, some quite technical bits for a little track. Try and do the Coastal version with the corkscrew, we didn't and it lacked something for it.

Venting is coming along, we were working through some designs last night over a beer & food. I can't see why we can't make it work easily and cheaply.

Wow that looks like fun, never been out on track but would love to have a blast - one question though.... If I were to go too mad into a corner and trash me car (which is likely  :driver:), how would I pay for it? Is there 'special' insurance you get? My policy states 'no tracks days' including 'the ring'!

There is 'special' insurance Dan but you tend to have to pay through the nose for it! Or just try harder not to bin it!  :driver:

instert joke here about bumming you on the straights......

Cadwell you say? £89 is cheap, is that msv or circuit days?, you should put some kind of presentation together in an attempt to twist my arm, it's going to be a dangerous ultra wet day though for sure!

If you're insured with Greenlight, it's £50 per track day and your excess doubles for the day. Indipendant is pretty much the same.

Stevey, I will have a Powerpoint slideshow by close of play.

Its on Eibachs, which are basically a KW V1 - They're extremely well riding on the road, however the damping is too soft for track work really. .. They were on the car when I bought it, so I can't justify the cost of changing to Bilsteins - they're not bad, just not perfect.

Rest of the rough spec here (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=4281.msg66251#msg66251)

I should be blagged my way onto an Oulton day, but if it falls through, I'm in.
