Wiring to speaker has come loose and the window or winder mech has hit it?

Most likely wiring within the door, or total failure of the speaker itself.

You will probably have to get the door trim off and then ascertain whether there is a signal to the speaker and work back on the wiring from there.

I had this issue with my 05 GTI, although it's only a slim chance it maybe the same problem. My speaker wire had worn loose at the connector in the front door jam. If you open the front door the is a rubber boot where the connector is and mine had snapped here, best to check here first as it easier than removing the door card.

This shows my issue...
