Title: Talk to me about induction kits/air intakes
Post by: GTi-Andy on September 26, 2014, 04:40:08 pm
Im looking to change the standard airbox for something to give more airflow before I get the car remapped.

What are the best options out there/whats flavour of the month??

Cheers

I ran a forge twin take and liked the sound but I'm very skeptical about performance increases from any open filter.

The likes of EVOMS, Revo & ITG have been tested time and time again on here and proven to make 15+bhp on a GTI.

The Twintake gives reasonable gains on K03 engined GTIs, but has proven restrictive on K04 engines.

But dont you loose low down power with these intakes?
I wanted an intake as my next mod before i go stage 2, but iv heard that for normal road driving theres no point as you loose low down torque
Iv just de restricted my standard intake
Is there a better panel filter you can get which is better than the standard filter but doest cost you any low down power?

Is that the full RamAir kit? £170 quid isn't too bad!

Yes, you lose a little torque lower down, but it more than makes up for it at the top end.

I ran a K&N panel filter in my GTI and it gave a few dyno-proven HP (around 7). I'll be getting either a pipercross or K&N for my Ed30 when it goes for a map soon  :happy2:
