Well, I should probably have done this a long time ago....
I've done less than 100 miles in the past 2 years in my GTI and she sits happily in the garage being started and run once a fortnight. I think I am now ready to sell her.
I'm really at a loss of how to price it to be honest and would value some suggestions as to what someone may be prepared to pay. Here are the details:
2006 GTI, 3 door, tornado red, 8378 miles (probably just run in!)
Totally genuine mint condition as you might expect - no accidents - all original body and paint. No mods - original car.
Extras as I recall are: 18" Monza's unmarked and no worming, front armrest, Kenwood sat nav & iPod system, front armrest, folding mirrors etc. Owned and bought by me since new. Full VWSH and cam belts changed on time (last one done in May)
Totally mint throughout - swissvax detailed
Also, anyone know where GTi's are best advertised these days? Where did you guys look for yours? Thanks in advance,

Thanks fella's. I wondered about pistonheads. Where do you reckon I should price it? I can't see any others with low mileage to compare really. My mind was going for about £9k but am I being too ambitious? No urgency to sell but don't want to mess around for weeks on end either.

I was in the same position last year when I sold mine. Mine was a 10 plate MKV with 17000 miles on it. Had nothing to compare it to as the MK6 came out on a 09 plate.
I priced mine below the price of a similar mileage MK6. I put mine up on here first, didnt even get one call so put it on Pistonheads and sold it straight away. Could have sold it a few times over in the end. So I would put it on here and Pistonheads and price it right and it will sell quickly. Some people prefer the MKV over the MK6. Good luck.

Ok, thanks guys. I'm really surprised. I guess I need to get my cherished reg transferred off first or I'll lose that. I thought I was probably being ambitious at £9k.
Out of curiosity, I went to my local VW garage to see what they might offer trade in against something. As expected, very low.... £5k at best lol. They don't call them stealers for nothing!
@ bbfb10 - I'm keeping the HU in it as it only had the basic RNS300 thingy in it originally and I think most folks would want a sat nav and good sounds in it. sorry :smiley:

Considering that this was so little used are you likely to use it's replacement any more than you have this? If not then sell it and continue to use whatever transport means has served to keep the mileage as low as it is and don't bother replacing it and save/enjoy the cash. Or even buy a cheaper higher mileage example and get some miles on it and
worry care about it less :driver:
If you're after preserving a car (any car, this or the next) for the future then keep it.
Hopefully you're keeping up with servicing despite it not going anywhere? All things mechanical can suffer through lack of use if not careful. :happy2:
This has nothing to do with this car specifically but I have seen a camshaft which came out of a 2008 car with around 48k on the clock which was rusty and a number of cam lobes were badly damaged. This was much to the surprise of the servicing agent (a well known and regarded garage) who had the car bought in for rough running. This vehicle had been stood for some considerable time it seems without proper care or servicing. So it's good news that you've been running yours!

As the others have said bud keep it.. keep it stored and orignal and will be worth more in the future..

Yeah, the plan was to keep it. I love looking at old mint mk1 GTi's and like to think one day mine might be a similar thing. I've recently been restoring an old Series classic Land Rover....too many toys in the toy box it seems. The company car is the main transport so won't get rained on!
I have always had the services done bang on time. Last year It had only done about 40 miles between the services. It's had 2 cam belts and a water pump to be sure. I think the last cam belt only did something like 470 miles lol. I keep it on a ctec battery conditioner but just as a precaution I had a new battery stuck on it 18 months ago. Old one was fine but they don't last forever do they.
I have always religiously started it every 2 weeks. Used the brakes and clutch to keep the hydraulics happy. Every month or so I take it round the block too to keep things moving. I'm quite mechanically minded like that.
Will be very sad to sell, should have done it years ago but too attached. Cars should be driven and enjoyed though and that's the bit I struggle with....must be too OCD!

That's her. :wink: Still looking the same.
I wouldn't replace with anything else but at least it would free up garage space if it went.At the same time I know I'll probably regret it later.
