There are so many parts like air intakes, DVs, coilovers, exhausts, clutches etc it's so hard to find out what is really the best I have decided on BCS power flow exhaust and a Revo ceramic air intake with heat shield still researching all the rest lol

Welcome to the fold Kieran!  :drinking:

Lovely looking Eddy you've got young man. Best of luck getting 385bhp from a generic REVO stage2+ map. Possible with a big turbo and a custom map......maybe. Look at R-Tech.

Happy modding.  :happy2:

Qualified mechanic you say? Stand by for lots of questions and advice requests coming your way from people... :happy2: When a project begins with "I am aiming for 385bhp" I'm always going to keep an eye on it.

After speaking to Niki from R-tech to help me make my own decision, I would either visit him or if you want a big brand generic map then go APR. Niki himself told me they map similarly to him, i.e they don’t map into the surge point on the turbo and he highly rates them as generic maps go. Plus it’s free upgrades from stage to stage. Worth a thought… :happy2:

Cheers guys thanks for all the nice comments and advice I'm a level 2 qualified mechanic so I know most stuff but not EVERYTHING I'm hoping to get 385bhp that's my goal but I know I will have to cross many bridges to get there but with the right direction with company's and the correct parts that are up to the job I'm new to the high performance stuff :) and always feel free to ask me anything or everything I'll always try my best to answer questions to my best capability :)

Not to sound like a doosh but to get a genuine 385bhp you will need more than the average 2+ setup...

A friend of mine went on a quest for more power which resulted in him getting the following bits...

BBT Hybrid K04
CTS discharge pipe
Revo throttle pipe
TTRS/RS3 in tank pump
Water methanol injection

He ended up with 391bhp for a short while until things went a little wrong :(

Have a look for yourself here... http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=84642.0

Welcome!

Lovely Ed30 you have  :happy2:

Take a look at this - he got 400bhp from a K04 with WMI. you need to replicate his exact setup to get more than 370bhp on the stock turbo

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,43854.0.html

It was monsterously fast, and even more powerrful than big turbo setups which were mapped by other tuners (Revo)

I run B14's, they're amazingly comfortable on long motorway journeys but hold it together well in the twisty B roads too.

Lovely ED30 Kieran - have you still got the mk1 too?!

I've no experience of coilovers on the mk5, but in terms of ride height, I wanted a minimal drop on mine. 20mm was just right IMHO - I used VWR springs.
Have always heard good things about Bilsteins - had a set on my old mkiv - very good dampers I thought...

I was thinking that too lol but might be a reason for it like the owner has a steep drive or a very bumpy street haha the black one looks low but can't really tell 100% as the car and the tyres blend in.

Not trying to be funny mate but how can they tell you the car will be running x amount of power without a set of rollers when every car responds slightly differently to mapping?

Don't let them brainwash you with claims and no evidence... Regardless I'm sure you will be made up with the map :)

Put some rubber around the hole in the shield. The metal is fooking sharp and as you can see by my second hand intake it will cause some damage. I used some vacuum tube i had laying about.

It might be worth having a play with the new Revo toy and adjusting the settings on your car, to see if any improvements can be had. I only suggest this, as there were some very interesting results at the recent Surrey rolling road day. For example a Revo stage 1 car made 285…

From what I remember, you had it setup at a place that didn't have a rolling road and have since added an intake. I'm by no means an expert on the subject but if it was my car I'd like clarification through data logging/rolling road sessions to check everything is optimised to suit. You never know with different settings you may be able to squeeze a little extra... Just my 2ps worth anyway. :happy2:

Looks well mate...your doing to yours whats been done to mine and I'm reversing it! Black badges, black wheels - looks well in both guises but OEM for me. Going a smoky silver on the wheels and OE badging. Will keep the originals and put it back to stealth if I don't like it!

Mine had carbon wrap on the grill, fly eye tint on the lights front and back - and wait for this purple wheels! That's different if you want different...I did them gloss black to cover it but going to strip them and redo them in the original Pescara colour even though they are CH's. S3 Calipers on mine too, will do these red and retainers black with Ed30 logo - got it all planned out. I've took top tint off the screen which was a right b!tch to do so will leave the rest of the windows alone!

Love the grey eddys, really wanted one but settled on a black as the deal was too good to turn down

I feel your pain about not having a sun roof as well thats the only thing i really miss

For the wheel colour how about shadow chrome? Little bit lighter than black and looks the nuts when the sun hits it

Hi guys I'm back again for good I haven't been using the car for the last 12 months due to me using my Audi RS4 but seen as I have just sold that on Saturday I have got the golf out  :happy2:
Yesterday I did a service on it and replaced the OSR caliper due to it been stood for a year it had started to stick so chucked a new one on  :driver:
Today I carried out a exterior detail washed, clayed, washed again, dried & then I got the DA out! Compounded, light polish, waxed and then finally sealed the car and glass and dressed the tyres!

Waiting to get my BCS WRC powervalve system fitted with sports cat can't wait but before that I have got:
New smoothed grill
Carbon fiber mirrors
Open fog grills
Smoked indicators
LED interior conversion (again)
And finally replacing the G201 fault by replacing the ABS unit sensor with the repair kit so I get my traction control back  :driver: haha

Yep, you've always got that option. Mine's the Sport version, valved, and it's just right for me. I've taken the parcel shelf out so I can hear a bit more of it on boost, but it's really quiet when I'm pottering around. I'm glad I went for the valved option!

Yeah I have gone with the WRC due to it being valved, if it wasn't a powervalve I wouldn't have done as it would have been annoying, but as it is I suppose it's only as loud as you drive it if you get me.

Yep, it's either full on screaming with a little pop between gears, or OEM-quiet with lots of subtle burps and burbles on the over run. Really impressive power gains too. I never get tired of it!

Well the BCS WRC Powervalve exhaust has been fitted for two months now...
AWESOME is all I can say, Its fantastic, Driving normal its like stock just with a little burble and a few subtle pop but on boost the beast is released

I have got a few photos that Nige kindly took so ill put them on when I get chance, unfortunately not had time to get a video of the exhaust but I will get it sorted for you all  :popcornsoda:

At the moment I'm just looking into the mine field of coilovers, I'm struggling what to choose, I want a decent drop enough too eliminate arch gap but also want a set that is going to last the lifetime of the vehicle!

I am willing to spend to get the right set up but nothing over the top, Recommendations much appreciated!

Is yours currently standard? Mines on lowered H&R and Bilsteins and I think it looks just right and I find the ride quality's good too (which it needs to be for the miles I do). I'm only 5 minutes from you if you want to compare.

Suspension is currently standard yeah.
That would be great thanks Mark as long as its not too much trouble, I have been thinking about the Bilstein B12 Sportline suspension kit but I would hate to fit it and it not be low enough at least with coilovers I have a choice and if I'm going to a show I can adjust it for the occasion. Just don't have a clue on what coilovers to get
