Title: Which R32 Rear bumper fits the best like OEM
Post by: ruhaleali on December 13, 2014, 03:00:11 pm
Hi, guys I am doing an R32 style rear conversion on my mk5 gti. I need a bumper and have found two options; PPCGB for £120 as one piece missing the tow sector. Or one from Automotive, which is £140 with heat shield and reflectors. Which one fits the best. Has anyone already fitted one before? Thanks

I'm in the process of doing my gti at the moment , I would be patient and get a genuine one, I got a genuine one off of eBay for £65 quid then sourced the other parts elsewhere but it does take time  :jumping:

The one i found for £140 he says is a very good fit. How did you manage to pay £65 was that of a breaking version and did that have all parts.

The bumper I got was in a sorry state someone had rubber it down badly, but I got it repainted , now it looks like new , brought the bottom valance off of vw as this was the hardest part to get £117 got the reflectors £27 quid !! I've seen people on eBay selling the complete R 32 bumper for as much as £400 quid !!! I'm now trying to get the exhaust to complete the conversion

I recently bought a PPCGB r32 bumper... fit isnt too bad, had to faff with it a bit but by far the biggest benefit is that it comes bare with no paint so no need for respraying :)

All the PPCGB stuff is one piece, no seperate difussers, same as most of the ones on the bay. The side Zorst exit one doesn't come with a tow eye IIRC. There have been some SHOCKING phots on here over the years of these and the crap fitment, some are out by 1 to 2 cm either side, other are ok, you pays your money.

Ive never had a copy so can't comment on quality or fitment but for £100 is no biggy if it's sh*t, it's worth a punt.

OEM one (obviously the best and bound to fit, look at mine) will be £350 ish from VW plus paint on top so might be a bit much for some.

As above ^^^^^

PPCGB Did come with a towing eye cover even though it wasn't pictured...no heat sheild however this should be a problem as most r32 style exhausts don't have a back box right behind the bumper so don't hold much heat.

I fold my screw holes for the arch liners didn't line up very well so drilled a few new ones... Easy job to do. The actual fitment to the OEM top half of the bumper was great though :)

these replica bumpers all seem to have a differnece in height ie the genuine bumper sits physically lower to the ground so be careful what exhaust your buying or youl be showing a whole load of backbox especially if its milltek, luckily i have a backbox delete so it doest really bother me but is still noticeabley higher in my opinion

I think this is correct because my friend has it on his mkv gti and his back box is hanging very low!

thats the only probem i could find with mine that it sits higher up than a genuine bumper but the fitment etc was ok
