Title: LED sidelights..
Post by: Jayy26 on December 20, 2014, 04:31:31 pm
Hi i fitted my led interior lights the other day..of matt i think hes called..
its not a big problem but i thought they were supposed to be white but have a blue tinge, the only reason i was asking is because one off my LED sidelights has already gone after two days :/ and wanted to make sure the sidelights off him are WHITE ,because i ordered some off the MTEC head lights and cant fault how white they are and not stupidly bright like the HID'S.

I have Osram dipped beam and can't really find any LED sidelights to match. In the end I went with Philips Bluevision which are as white as the Osrams. Not sure you'll match LEDs perfectly so might be worth going with these.

Oh and my LED set from Matt are a bit blue, and one of my number plate bulbs went after about 2/3 months of use.

I bought LED sidelights from BoldSport and I'm quite happy with them. You can see pics on my ride thread.

A number of headlamp bulbs have a blue coating on them - Osram Nightbreakers for one.
The high intensity, very white LED bulbs pick this up and give an apparent blueish reflected light.
Unless it's too blue it won't give an MOT problem - I had a long discussion with my local MOT guy about this recently.
If you want pure white sidelights, you have to avoid blue coatings on headlamp bulbs and make sure the LEDs are not exceeding 5k - 6k colour temp. Above that and they are into the 'blue light' spectrum.

I also would recommend not buying really cheap LEDs and they blow and can all be different colour buy decent LEDs and spend some money on them quality
