Title: Another intake option for the 2.0 TFSI
Post by: T88OMM on November 25, 2009, 11:13:25 am
Take a look at the thread in the link below. Looks like a really neat bit of kit that ticks all the boxes, a little cheaper than Forge/ITG etc. coming in at around £200 RRP

Looks like a good application to me, nice and smooth pipework, big ram-pipe - what's not to like for £200??

looks a similar design to the dbilas but that filter box looks alot better made and probably has room for a larger filter than the dbilas

good price  :happy2:

but I already ordered the ITG

It does look very well engineered and retains the stock/oem sort of look which I like. I know that it is on an S3 there but there can't be much difference in fitment for the MK5 GTI / CUPRA if any  :happy2:

....Not really, I've already known about that Pipercross design for a while.

Forge are also working on a 'ONEtake' (my name, not theirs) of their TWINtake - Leaves off the side branch. Would be a cheaper option but less gains than the TWINtake. The TWINtake doesn't fit the Audi A3/S3/Passat apparently.

As others have said if that is an S3 then where is the pipe for the remote DV and whats that black thing with the P on where it should be.

looks like they just wacked a breather valve where the standard diverter valve is and blanked off the remote pipe !!

Awesome but I don't think it's supposed to work that way.

Lol noticed that too.. Hmm, don't think they have quite grasped how its supposed to work!

"Just wack a filter on it.. that'll do!"

....Probably because Pipercross are essentially just a filter manufacturer AFAIK.

I suppose it's natural for a filter manufacturer to attempt an intake.

....Yep, it's great (I think!) that we have such a wide choice though.

After much consideration and research, I've ordered a Forge TWINtake. The ITG was a strong contender for a while.

[I'll be updating my DSG Revo1 at JKM on my next visit there - Thanks, Carl]

maybe its not a filter and just their version of a 100% atmospheric DV??

there is also the K&N version although that doesn't seem to have the take off for the remote DV either. I'm toying with the idea of a CAI but really cannot justify the £300 + for some of the kits.

....Fortunately there are quite a few choices at around or under £200. The intake performance differences are a hotly discussed and debated subject all over cyberspace but it's broadly agreed that differences are generally small. It's something that gets decided by : -

- Performance
- Cost
- Sound
- Appearance
- Build quality

^ In any order of preference you like.

The more power you are wanting to run the more air you want delivered, but I'm simplifying the subject. You already know that modding is a very slippery slope, I'm sure! Especially on this site.

If you want a cheap but well made intake system the BSH intake is the one to go for..

And Dubtek is the man to get a deal on the BSH intake I think.

yep i'll be either going down the bsh one or if K&N do manufacture one with the DV take off then I might go for one of those, either just to be different or because i might be able to pick one up cheap :)
