Recently picked up a shadow blue 3 door dsg, been looking for a while as wanted a blue car without leather and sunroof.
This turned up not perfect but 2 owners 72k got it for a decent price as it's never had a cambelt and needs some tyres.
The car seems a massive improvement over the mk4 gti which I have had for the last 8 years.
What sort of fuel economy should I be getting with dsg ? driving it really steady I can't get more than 33mpg.
I have started on the jobs replaced the cam follower, pcv valve next up the DV I am hoping that is causing the low fuel economy. Also need to do dsg reset and cambelt and waterpump.
Because of the overdue cambelt I have been taking it pretty steady.

33mpg seems about right. I was getting similar in my old k03 gti. Looks tidy!

Working my way through the jobs, done the cambelt and waterpump first time it had been done in 72k to be honest the belt looked good. Also put in new coolant .
Whilst I had the lower engine cover off I noticed the lower pipe to the intercooler had been leaking oil for a while, replaced both seals on the rubber pipe which has now improved the mpg.
One thing since doing the cambelt I have had the engine light come up on the dash at random times, code is reading to do with the fuel evap, anyone else had this after disturbing the carbon cannister? I have checked the pipe which isn't broken so may be the o ring is not sealing correctly now?
Also fitted the latest revision DV and had the dsg oil changed.
Next up finish the detailing and machine polishing the paint work which is pretty bad in the sun !!

Been a while since I have updated this thread!
Picked up a bargain carbon oettinger intake from Germany before the pound collapsed. Sanded and polished the headlights as they were terrible.
Car has been in the body shop for a little tidying and colour coding. Votex front splitter and original rear edition 30 lower.
