What does people think about Nankang tires? no matter summer or winter tires.
write your own review what you like and no't like about them.
My self i bought 4 nankang NS-20 summer tires and will be picking them up from my local tiregarage tomorrow :)
-
I ran NS-20's on my MK4 because they stretched easily.
They're a very hard compound and were shocking in the wet, not too bad for the money in the dry though. I wouldn't like to run them on anything that's driven hard.
-
I've never run them but have a few mates that had them supplied on eBay alloy packages and quickly removed them rated them as very poor especially in the wet, "Ditchfinders" is the term around here one step up from linlongs
BUT you get what you pay for these pass all the eu regulations required so as with any budget rubber don't push it to the limits and don't expect conti tyres for a third the money

They are terrible in the wet and I would avoid them ..in fact I don't quote them to customers at work

Quality! :signLOL:
Never skimp on rubber it's what connects you to the road and is of fundamental importance. You can have the greatest chassis and suspension set up in the world but if your tyres are dog crap then your car is dog crap and you'll never be able to exploit that world's greatest chassis and suspension to anywhere near its full potential.
-
I used them on one of my first cars - a 1.6 Ryder Mk2 Golf. They seemed alright and they did the size I wanted 185/45/15.
In the dry it was ok, in the wet it was flipping awful! The car had about 90bhp at a push and the tyres had trouble putting that down! Basically they're sh*te, after those I only ever bought decent brand tyres and haven't looked back.
-
As above don't scrimp on tyres, it makes every other performance mod pointless and is how you end up crashing.
Poor wet grip
Poor braking = crash
Poor cornering
-
I had NS2-R's on my car last year, not once did I find a ditch in the wet or dry,on track they held their own and were very grippy a cheap and equal to 888's

I have SV2 as winter tyres, there is about six sets amongst my friends and family who all like them. That particular tyre is very good for that purpose.
In regards to performance summer tyres, not a chance.
-
The R track tyre is one of the few with an XL rating too.

NS2R are okay, good budget option for track days.
for day to day use though... ns20s (which are very different) -- not good at all.

As Skard says the sv- 2 winter tyre is very good but the summer tyres are crap
-
As we'd say in The Black Country "Yowm goin t' smosh yer car up mush!" I wouldn't scrimp on tyre's most important things on a car!
-
I'd buy cheap tyres if they were called something better than Nankang or Fooyong or whatever.
If they were called 'Tyrannosaurus tyres' and had images of dinosaurs on the sidewall I'd buy them.
-
They don't call them ditch finders for nothing!

^ This :happy2:
Very accurate of my experience too, in that the only ones I'd buy are the SV-2 for that purpose, as a winter tyre only. You couldn't rely on them in any other conditions. The torque steer and damp/wet handling in a reguar torque filled hot hatch is pretty poor.
I'm selling a set of SV-2 as it happens, we just don't get enough ice or snow where I am to justify them anymore.
-
Id never have budget tyres. I don't drive 'hard' on the road but it doesn't mean I wont need good grip for an emergency manoeuvre / stop.
-
My Edition 30 had a pair of BCT budget tyres fitted at the main dealers during its preparation, during the negotiated i asked argued about why ditch finders had been fitted to the front of a GTI, that when on a roundabout would just wash out, they were shocking!!! Soon went in the bin when i got it home. The dealers did not appreciate my comments!!! :signLOL:
Safety First dont scrimp on tyres, spend as much as you can afford! I see many cars with lots of power modifications, but then you read an advert for them, saying I couldnt afford the tyres so it has to go.
