Hey guys, some 0-60 time to be a little surprised at.
GTI mk 5 (standard) - revo stage 1 - revo air intake - full tank of v-power +
My mate was in the car with me on a flat dry quite road
1st run 0-60 = 5.66 secs
2nd run 0-60 = 3.70
3.70 seconds! Can this really be correct?! Its deffo under 5 secs for 0-60. The car does feel super quick! but under 4 secs for a standard GTI with stage 1, can't be?! :signLOL:
As you can tell I was well chuffed with this.
Any thoughts?
-
How did you measure the times? Can't be right especialy on a K03
-
I know right, Its deffo under 5 secs, which for that is strange. It was just on my iPhone. My mate knows how to do it right.
The car is stupid quick
-
Same 0-60mph as a Ferrari F40? Seems legit :happy2:
-
Not a chance.
-
No its not right , nor is the under 5 secs bit - out of a fwd 260 ish bhp car !
-
Yeah a know it seems totally daft, but its deffo under 5 secs. I'll do a few more runs in it soon. :jump move:
-
To get in the 5s with a FWD car you need over 300bhp in a manual. DSG may be easier to crack the 5s mark
-
Get it down the strip at Santa pod is easiest and most fun way to find out I guess
But doubtful it even be under 6 seconds to be honest mate and thats if you can get the power down
You sure its not wheel spinning to 60mph
-
No comment :signLOL:
-
1 Crocodile.......2 Crocodile......3 Crocodile.......60mph!
-
Don't believe you for a second.
There is however an app to measure this kind of stuff. Type thatracingchannel into App Store and download it
-
Not a chance. Unless it was driven off beach head.... And even then I'd doubt it
-
Can't see a vw golf mk5 gti in amongst that lot......

-
Wheelspin?
-
My impreza wasn't even that quick
-
Needle must have jumped if you lost traction?
That's the same 0-60 as a mapped DSG MK7R
Maybe you did 0-60 kmph
-
Your measurement apparatus is incorrectly calibrated I'm afraid. You've given us a laugh though which is great :drinking:
-
Maybe you did 0-60 kmph

I geniunely pissed myself laughing when I read this, thank you, no really, THANK YOU!! :signLOL:
I doubt your car was even under 6 seconds but great story! :signLOL: :signLOL:

Change of plan.
stage 2+
stage 1
-
I timed my Revo stage 2 GTI DSG to 60 in 5.8 seconds, crappy start but that's a more realistic figure.
Also had a full tank
3.7 seconds is dream world and i think you know it, lol. :happy2:

It was DEFINATELY under 5 seconds, LOL :signLOL:
-
My stage 2 Leon FR ran a high 5's as a manual but that was with a half tidy start on a dry day with decent boots on.
Sub 4 seconds is just silly
-
My old stage 2+ DSG ED30 could just do it on 5 dead, maybe a smidge under. But that was with a perfect launch.
There's no way a mapped GTI is doing it in the same time. Haha.

Mate it just wasn't, isn't and never will be
The new golf R400 is a claimed 3.8 seconds to 60 and thats with 400 bhp, 4wd and launch control under perfect test conditions!
Regardless of bhp and mods etc no fwd car will ever achieve 3.7 seconds to 60mph the physics of traction simply wont allow it

yes this is true :jumping:, allthough heavily deflated drag tyres on some huge FWD cars can get decent results
-
If the speedo reached an indicated 60mph, it could only have been down to wheelspin, which is understandable in a mapped GTI...
-
haha no way! :signLOL:
-
Cool story bro....tell it again :driver:

Stage 2+ Golf R DSG (360+bhp) only does 3.6s. Hopefully that puts things into perspective

And thats why I need one! :driver:

I am guessing that is a MK6 R you are referring to instead of the MK7?
A MK7 R at Stage 2+ would be over 400+BHP wouldn't it?
-
Hilarious! :signLOL:
My Stage 1 DSG ED30 did 5.3ish with Launch control.
Iphone timing gear. Lololololololololololololololol. :jumpmove:

Yeh must be, the MK7 is 370ish with just a map

Is it april 1st?

Cool story bro....tell it again :driver:
…..Tell it with dragons and S*** :signLOL:
-
The fastest FWD cars on the market all have more power than a remapped GTI and only just dip under 6 seconds (last Focus RS, new Civic Type R, Cupra 280 etc), so I call bovine scatology.
-
bovine scatology....like that!
Going to integrate this into my next meeting at work.
-
Never timed mine but 3.6sec............suppose I can live with that :P

Should definitely be possible, I managed 3.81 from a 2k launch.

He has a Polar FIS.
-
What he said. ^^
Its got a timer on it so you can do XXXmph - XXXmph timed runs, you can set what speeds.
-
Not sure on the red dot displays but the white dot ones also do it based on WHEEL SPEED MPH (which is the ACTUAL speed - Speedo overreads by about 4-8mph depending on your Speed Impulse number on VCDS).
For example mine will show cruise control at 30, dial would be 30, MFD speed readout be 26.
Ergo if you timed Rich's 0-60 on a video camera it would be ever so slightly quicker, the time it takes to pull the extra 4-8mph.
-
3.7? Mine would do 0-Wheelspin in 0.5seconds lol

How much are they? And how easy are they to fit??
-
Roughyl 200 quid.. maybe a bit less. Fairly east to fit if you have small hands.
-
my stage 1 edition 30 DSG does it in roughly 5.2/5.3 seconds running v power....
which gets me thinking.. thats not fast enough.. time to sell my beloved edition 30!!

I've noticed the speed reading on the climate control display, in the hidden menu, reads lower than my speedo.
Might be more of a true reading

It's the same reading PolarFIS give on red dot MFA+ and that white dot MFA+ give from factory. It's the ECU speedometer.

That's easily doable.
I have a Mk2 Leon Cupra with stage 1 and my 0-60 time is just under 3 seconds! :signLOL:

Yeah 6R (Hurdy's build thread :signLOL:)
7R as stock does 4.6 as tested by Autoexpress :jumpmove:
7R stage 1 (370-380bhp) does 3.7 (although GIAC recon they can beat that with their tune :jumping:)

Manual around 5 seconds??.. DSG at 4.6 is very quick !
-
Manual around 5.3. No one can match the 5.1 in the book :signLOL:
-
I've driven a car which done sub low 3sec 0-60, no way this golf will do it sub 4!!
Made me laugh :driver:

Post of the year = bullsh*t of the year :signLOL:

i've considered it but kind of fancy an R. the 4wd appeals to be as ive not had one before.
-
The best 0-60mph I ever managed in my old ED30 was 4.4 seconds and that was with......
Toyo R888 semi slicks sticky rubber.
Quaife LSD
Anti-lift kit
Bilsteins
A cool dry day
Stage 2+ hardware
Mapped DSG and launch control
100bhp/130lbft shot of nitrous injection!
So, 440bhp/510lbft and still 0.7 seconds slower than what the OP claimed!
Good laugh though!
Now 4WD is a different kettle of fish!
-
You need to learn to drive then :p
-

I know Carl, "just" a 4.4 to 60 is abysmal. :ashamed:

Especially when you have done so much modding and the OP can manage a 3.7 to 60 on less power. ;)

last night I got 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds in a stage 1 mk5 gti dsg everything else is stock. Also there was 1 passenger with me. Hit 60 on 2nd gear on sports mode with esp off. Also took it up to 150mph which felt quite comfortable and felt like it could go a little more. I recorded it with a camera and trimmed from 0 - 60mph to give me the reading so might not be very accurate might need one of those boost gauges like the p3cars one to get a more accurate reading any one know where I can get the p3 installed?

Even sub 5 sec is doubtful with mods
-
Sorry the new Golf R Mk7 with a stage 1 does it in 3.6 with DSG and Launch control plus 4wd.. There is no way a GTI with a stage 1 map would do this time.. Even our K04 GTI wont achieve these times :(
-
Get in Hurdys car like I did this morning after I dropped my car off at Statllers if you want to see a 3 seconds to 60 monster! :notworthy:

Think few of you chaps actually need to go in a decent 4wd motor that can really achieve these 0-60 figures quoted!
My mate has a STI pro drive wide body impreza with a 0-60 of 4.2 he has also had it live mapped and changed the system rtc so probably sub 4 seconds now
Let me assure you no fwd car let alone a mk5 Gti is ever getting off the line like that thing does
Absolute animal, even my previous 317bhp mk1 focus Rs was not even close
Wake up guys
Mk6/mk7 R is only real way to achieve these times
-
Always makes me laugh when I see this thread appear again hahah

Bloody brilliant, if i knew my car had some special button to achieve those times, i could have saved so much pennies :signLOL:
