Wasn't sure what size my alloys were so decided to measure them...between the extents of the alloy (the true diameter of alloy) measured 495mm. When it says 17" or 18" does it mean 18" from one side of the alloy to the other? Or is it something weird. 18" in mm is 457.2

Bump

You measured lip to lip the outer edges but the Tyre sits below the lip so your size is 38 mm or so over 18 inch that's a 20 mm lip which sounds about right

Cheers, I think its a bit weird that the visible alloy is 19", but there called 18"!

Ours is to admire, not to question the logic. :innocent: I'm sure if you measured enough alloys in this same way the variation of "on show" diameter will vary massively. Good little post though, like being enlightened on things like this.

CRUEL. Thought I had 19" monzas!... Even if they are in a terrible state. Won't be for long though...refurb planned

I'm sure you could find 19" replica alloys, but the profile would be so low the ride would be trashed!

I don't want them, I just thought I already had them! happy that I've got 18s opposed to 17s however!

Your tyre size will be bit of a giveaway @Peskyjones (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=11854)

Huh?

If the number on your tyre side wall reads 225/40/18, then you have 18" wheels.
