Title: BWA engine maximum power capacity
Post by: vag12 on April 13, 2015, 05:49:36 pm
I was just wondering what power can the BWA engine handle safely from a k04 conversion? How would 370bhp and 390lbs of torque be? Would that be safe

Your really pushing it at that, only a question of how long it will hang on at that power, 320-330 would be a better bet for a bit of longevity IMO

Mine currently has 330 bhp and 400 lbs ft. There's defininitely a question mark over longevity but seems OK at the moment.

I don't drive it very hard. Not ALL of the time anyway.....

There's definitely a kind of will it/won't it feeling coupled with conversations that go, "well they're supposed to go wrong with that much torque but I've never seen one yet...."

If / when it will let go, it's likely in a high gear with lots of load. That's when James killed his BWA
