Personally I'd try to stick with original or a well known brand of wheel, BBS / Borbet / Momo / Azev etc , as the wheels you've linked to are ok in design, it's just that copy wheels can be a bit of a lucky dip in terms of quality and you can end up with bubbling lacquer or worse, bent alloys due to poor quality.
A set of used OEM wheels that you can maybe factor a refurb into would be a better investment for my 2p.

thanks chigmuss that's helpful advice
where would you think the best place to search for oem ones that could maybe do with a refurb ?

maybe try gumtree as theres a lot of sellers on there

or even something like these

I've had about 5 sets of replica wheels and have never had a problem, they still have to pass strict regulations and tests etc..

Even the finish is normally very good, I wouldn't be to worried about buying replicas, also bare in mind a diamond cut refurb will cost you £100 per wheel. So buying a used set and refurbishing them can get expensive quickly.

I really like them mate aren't these same wheel as upgraded mk7 Gti ones?
I personally wouldn't fit cheap aftermarket wheels mate, generally chinese rubbish that don't last 5 minutes

Good reason why genuine ones will cost you £2,000+
My mate fitted cheap aftermarket wheels to his ep3 type R and within 6 months the finish on them as ruined and they constantly needed balancing as a swear they were made from butter

has anyone used this company from the lonk above at all

couple of options from this buyer,
would greatly appreciate peoples thoughts on them
they would be to go on a black gti
link no 1

seemingly these are brand new and genuine parts ?
how at that price I do not know but this is a huge company on e bay and 40k feedback with only something like 10 negative of which none of these are regarding questioning or complaining about parts not being genuine.

is it to good to be true ?
any advice greatly welcome

I don't think the anthracite alloys would look good on a black gti. From the pictures in the advert, those alloys shown on a Passat, nothing special. I reckon it would make the gti look like a normal golf with a set of upgraded wheels.

ET 41 will still be OK, of you're lowering quite a but you'll have to roll the arches for ET45 anyways

I spoke to vw racing yesterday and they advised that ET45 is the standard fitment which would require no alteration to the arches ?
is that correct ?
don't know what you mean by ( rolling the arches ) dansmith

It depends if you're lowering (which you'll want to on 19's) and by how much, I ran 19" 8j ET45's on the front with about 40mm drop and the tyres rubbed when loaded and under heavy cornering.

If you put your hand inside the arch and have a feel there is a lip there and that's where the wheel catches most of the time so you get that lip 'rolled' and you've got extra clearance.

didn't plan on lowering the car at all and just run directly with the 19s
didn't think I needed to but will that look silly ?

Yeah mate it will look like an offraoder, if you got the ET41's and did a 25mm or so drop it would look nice and you would t get any issues
